Customization is a massively popular feature in video games and is only becoming more so as time goes on. Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 capitalizes on the feature’s popularity by including one of the most innovative and detailed character creators in recent memory. Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s character creator was released ahead of the game to allow players a headstart, and many fans even took to social media to share their creations, some of which were uncanny resemblances of characters like God of War‘s Kratos and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s Ciri. Despite having such a customizable character creator, however, Dragon’s Dogma 2 still lacks one popular customization feature.

Transmogrification, otherwise simply known as “transmog,” is an increasingly desirable customization feature, especially in role-playing games. With transmog, players can change the appearance of their character’s wardrobe without changing the armor itself. This is useful when players prefer to wear a particular piece of armor because of the stats and/or abilities it provides, but would rather it take on a different appearance. Currently, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is in dire need of a transmog feature, and since it has been added to other games in post-launch updates, like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, surely Dragon’s Dogma 2 could handle doing the same.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Should Add Transmog in a Post-Launch Update

Transmog Would Allow Players to Better Customize Their Character’s Wardrobe

There are countless armor pieces for players to collect and utilize in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The issue, however, is that they rarely complement one another. As a result, the appearance of players’ characters tends to scream “laundry day” due to their wardrobes being a mismatched set of otherwise helpful armor pieces. This could be easily remedied with a transmog feature in the game, especially if it functioned similarly to Hogwarts Legacy‘s transmog system.

In Hogwarts Legacy, anytime players collect a piece of gear, that gear’s appearance is then added to a cosmetic library of sorts. From there, players can freely customize their wardrobe using any of the appearances they’ve collected thus far. This would be a highly beneficial feature in Capcom’s latest hit, especially considering there are different types of armor for each of Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s ten vocations. With a transmog system similar to Hogwarts Legacy‘s, players could customize the wardrobe of their Dragon’s Dogma 2 character using the appearance of any gear they’ve collected in the game from any source.

Fans Have Already Been Requesting That Transmog Be Added to Dragon’s Dogma 2

Despite the increasing popularity of transmog being reason enough to include it in Dragon’s Dogma 2, many of the game’s fans have already been expressing their desire to see the feature added in a future update. In fact, Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s mod community has already begun developing mods for a transmog system, so it may very well be added in one way or another before long. Still, it’s strange that Dragon’s Dogma 2 would forego the inclusion of a transmog system in-game in light of the feature’s popularity.

Whether an official transmog system will be included in a future update for Dragon’s Dogma 2 remains to be seen, but the hope is that Capcom will take note of the feature’s popularity and choose to implement it in some way. After all, transmogrification would be an excellent fit in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, thanks to the countless armor pieces made available to players. With it, players could continue to don helpful armor pieces while taking on a more stylish look as they explore the vast open world of Dragon’s Dogma 2.
