Dungeons and Dragons has finally revealed its official roadmap for 2026, featuring four new 5th Edition books: Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, Arcana Unleashed, the Deadfall adventure, and an unnamed book for the winter. These products will include player options, setting information, adventures, and various tools for DMs to use in their Dungeons and Dragons games.
2025 was a big year for Dungeons and Dragons. After finishing the 2024 core rules refresh with the release of the new Monster Manual, Wizards of the Coast followed up with the Dragon Delves Anthology of adventures, the Heroes of the Borderland Starter Set, two Forgotten Realms books, a trio of mini-supplements, and Eberron: Forge of the Artificer, which updated the Artificer class in D&D to the 2024 rules.

Season of Horror: A Return to Ravenloft and the Domains of Dread
Considering Curse of Strahd is among 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons’ most popular adventure paths, it is no surprise to learn Ravenloft will be revisited so soon after the 2024 rules refresh. In many ways, this book will be a sequel to Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft, giving players an even deeper dive into the many genres of horror the Domains of Dread contain, ranging from gothic and cosmic to occult and dark fantasy.
Though Wizards of the Coast has been tight-lipped on what exactly will be found within this book, a combination of the previous horror-themed D&D Unearthed Arcana and a preview page tease some of the things that fans can expect:
- New species, including:
- Dhampir
-
New and revised subclasses, likely including:
- Reanimator Artificer
- College of Spirits Bard
- Grave Domain Cleric
- Hollow Warden Ranger
- Phantom Rogue
- Shadow Sorcerer
- Hexblade Warlock
- Undead Warlock
- New backgrounds, including:
- New Dark Gifts
- New monster stat blocks, including:
Pre-orders for Ravenloft: The Horrors Within open April 13 ahead of its June 16 release, but Master Tier D&D Beyond subscribers will get access on June 2 and Hero Tier subscribers on June 9.
Season of Magic: Unearthed Arcana, Red Wizards, and High Magic
The Arcana Unleashed sourcebook is focused on the high magic aspects of Dungeons and Dragons. Like Ravenloft: The Horror Within, previous mystic D&D Unearthed Arcana and a new preview page reveal some of what will likely be found in this tome:
-
New and revised subclasses, possibly including:
- Arcana Domain Cleric
- Arcane Archer Fighter
- Mystic Arts Monk
- Spellguard Paladin
- Magic Stealer Rogue
- Hexblade Warlock (if not in Ravenloft: The Horror Within)
- Conjurer Wizard (confirmed)
- Enchanter Wizard (confirmed)
- Necromancer Wizard
- Transmuter Wizard
- Vestige Patron Warlock
-
New feats, including:
- Arcane Undertaker
- Arcane Eloquence
- Transmuted Anatomy
-
New spells, including:
- Abi-Dalzim’s Horrid Wilting
- Aura of Evasion
- Battle Familiar
-
New backgrounds, including:
- Cosmic Dawn Experimenter
- Covenant of the Grave Recruit
- New magic item system that allows items to gain power with character level
Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, which will be released alongside the supplement, is the first full-length adventure since the 2024 rules refresh. Marketed as the “ultimate Red Wizards adventure,” players will likely get a closer look at Thay and Szass Tam, popularized by their appearance in Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, in this book. No level range has been given for this adventure path at the moment.
Season of Champions: Could Wizards of the Coast Return to an Iconic D&D Setting?
Wizards of the Coast has not yet revealed the book coming in the Season of Champions, expected near the end of the year. However, there is some content from another Dungeons and Dragons Unearthed Arcana that wouldn’t fit in the confirmed books. Several iconic subclasses from the past in this playtest, such as the Path of the Spiritual Guardian Barbarian, Cavalier Fighter, and Oathbreaker Paladin, would match the Season of Champions theme well and could appear in this unnamed book.
That said, given how mysterious Wizards of the Coast is about it, this book could be something more specific and significant. Between the Psion class and the Apocalyptic Subclasses Unearthed Arcana, evidence suggests a potential return to D&D‘s iconic and controversial Dark Sun setting could be in the works. It is possible this unannounced project could be related to these elements, but fans will have to wait until later this year to find out for certain.
