Developer The Coalition has just confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day has officially gone gold. For those unaware, this essentially means that development on Gears of War: E-Day is complete and that the game is ready to be printed onto physical discs.
Announced during the June 2024 Xbox Showcase, Gears of War: E-Day is the first mainline entry in the third-person shooter franchise since 2019’s Gears 5. Rather than continue the events of the series, however, Gears of War: E-Day is taking fans back to the very beginning of the franchise’s long history, with its story taking place years before the first Gears of War, exploring the fateful Emergence Day event that kickstarted the Locust invasion of Sera.
Gears of War: E-Day Has Gone Gold
Announced via a news post on the official Xbox website, The Coalition has announced that Gears of War: E-Day has gone gold. In the words of Coalition Studio Head Mike Crump, Gears of War: E-Day going gold marks “a major milestone for the team as we enter the final stretch toward launch.” The long-awaited next entry in the Gears of War franchise is now fully ready for its early access launch (which players can obtain by purchasing the game’s Premium Edition) on October 1 and its global launch on October 6.
Of course, in this modern age of gaming, a game going gold doesn’t mean that the developers’ work is done. While Gears of War: E-Day is complete and ready to be shipped, it’s extremely likely that developer The Coalition will continue to polish the game right up until the second it launches. It can also be assumed that The Coalition’s work won’t be done when Gears of War: E-Day ships either, as the game is sure to receive an array of post-launch updates and balancing patches.
