An Elden Ring player has discovered that certain minor bosses in the Shadow of the Erdtree can spawn with golden eyes, giving them a chance to get over 1 million runes from those enemies. The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has turned out to be extremely difficult for the fanbase, with players struggling to take down even the field bosses in the expansion. In a new post on the Elden Ring subreddit, user jacobadamson165 highlights a little-known fact about certain minor bosses in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Apparently, there is a probability that the minor bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree can spawn with golden eyes. Enemies with golden eyes give five times the runes they normally yield. This means that players can get over 1 million runes for bosses like Rugalea the Great Red Bear, as showcased in the post.

Which Bosses Can Have Golden Eyes In Elden Ring DLC?

It should be noted that Rugalea the Great Red Bear isn’t the only boss to whom this applies, as some players have noted that the dragons at Jagged Peaks in Elden Ring can also spawn with golden eyes. This means that enemies like Jagged Peak Drake can give players close to half a million runes, which can be further boosted if players pick up the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot or the Gold Scarab , both of which drastically improve the amount of runes players can get. In short, the field bosses in the game can have this special buff.

The eyes of enemies in the game can be of three colors: golden, red, and yellow. Red-eyed enemies are much stronger and more aggressive, while yellow eyes are the ones that inflict madness, something that players can encounter around the Church of Inhibition in Elden Ring. As far as the spawn rate of these enemies is concerned, it is not possible to predict them as it is totally random. While there is a common misconception that golden-eyed enemies spawn more at night, these only apply to the ones that have red eyes. That being said, players can keep dying and reset the boss battle to make sure it gives them the rune bonus when they defeat it.
