When it comes to weapons, Elden Ring went above and beyond, surprising players with a selection of over 30 diverse weapon types, each offering more than 10 different options. In the initial releases, some weapons, like the overpowering Rivers of Blood, took the spotlight, while others, such as the initially underwhelming Dragon Halberd, struggled to make an impact.
Over time, FromSoftware addressed imbalances by adjusting overpowered weapons and enhancing those in need through numerous patch updates. Unexpectedly, the Dragon Halberd has evolved into one of the strongest weapons in Elden Ring.
The Dragon Halberd is a fantastic weapon with split scaling in Dexterity and Strength, making it an excellent choice for Quality builds where players focus on leveling both stats. What makes it even better is that you can obtain it early in the game. Keep reading this guide to discover where to find the Dragon Halberd and whether it’s a worthwhile choice for your character in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring: Halberds Tier List
Halberds may not be the best weapons in Elden Ring, but they offer some good damage and reach, making them a good option for quality builds.
Elden Ring: Dragon Halberd Location
The Dragon Halberd is a drop reward obtained by defeating the Dragonkin Soldier in Siofra River. Players can reach Siofra River by using the elevator located next to the Minor Erdtree in the east Limgrave. To locate the teleporter, head south from the Third Church of Marika.
After taking the elevator to Siofra River, explore the area to find another elevator leading to the Siofra River Bank site of grace. From here, head northeast until you encounter a fallen pillar on the ground with an Ancestral Follower sniping arrows from the top. Run up the collapsed pillar to discover a waypoint portal leading to another part of Siofra River.
Take the portal to teleport next to a lake. Run towards the giant waterfall in the north to find a dormant Dragonkin Soldier on the ground. Approach it to trigger the boss fight. Once defeated, players will be rewarded with the Dragon Halberd. For melee attackers, targeting the legs appears to be the safest strategy against all giant enemies, while mages and casters can hurl long-range attacks at its head for extra damage while remaining safe.
Attacking the Dragonkin Soldier’s head will deal an extra 20% damage. Players are recommended to use slash weapons and avoid doing Lightning attacks, as it has high resistance to Lightning damage.
While here, players can also pick up Marika’s Scarseal, located under the waterfall just ahead of the Dragonkin Soldier. This talisman boosts Mind, Faith, Intelligence, and Arcane by 3 points but causes the character to take 10% extra damage.
Is Dragon Halberd Good or Not?
Like all halberds, Dragon Halberd is a great weapon choice for players investing in both Strength and Dexterity. Its considerable attack power is just the beginning of its appeal. What sets the Dragon Halberd apart is its distinctive Spinning Slash skill, infusing the weapon with Frozen Lightning for 45 seconds. This skill, coupled with its decent range, allows players to swiftly handle groups of enemies, providing an extra boost to the weapon’s attack for upcoming fights.
The Dragon Halberd adopts the typical halberd moveset, characterized by thrust attacks. When paired with its Spinning Slash skill, the Dragon Halberd evolves into a formidable weapon for PVP battles in Elden Ring. Whether you’re pursuing a player or confronting multiple opponents, selecting the Dragon Halberd stands out as one of the optimal choices for these situations. Because it’s available early, lots of players enjoy easily defeating bosses by creating a Quality build and using the Dragon Halberd.
The Dragon Halberd boasts a unique feature that often goes unnoticed. It inflicts an additional 10% damage to regular Dragons and 5% to their ancient variants. If players find themselves struggling against dragons, opting for the Dragon Halberd becomes a strategic choice, allowing them to deal extra damage to these majestic yet incredibly strong foes.
