The Epic Games Store has officially announced The Stone of Madness as its free game for April 16, while launching a separate freebie for PC gamers in the meantime. Blending tactical stealth with a Bourbon-era Spain setting, The Stone of Madness will mark the single most expensive title given away to Epic Games Store users in April 2026.

Since the beginning of the year, fewer than a third of the weekly EGS giveaways have included games typically priced above $20. The most recent such offer expired on March 19, which was the last chance for Epic Games Store users to claim Isonzo, a World War I shooter normally priced at $29.99.

Every Free Game Released On The Epic Games Store (April 2026)

Here’s a list of all the games that have been made free on the Epic Games Store. You have until April 16 to get the current free games.

Unique Tactical Stealth Game ‘The Stone of Madness’ Is Epic’s Next Freebie

Epic has now formally announced its next $30 freebie, The Stone of Madness, developed by Spanish indie studio The Game Kitchen. First released in January 2025, The Stone of Madness debuted to largely positive reviews, intriguing early adopters with its premise of a tactical stealth game set in an 18th-century Spain that has players controlling a motley group of prisoners trying to escape a Jesuit monastery. This most unusual title will be free to claim on the Epic Games Store from April 16 through April 23, beginning and ending at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET / 5 p.m. CET.

As things currently stand, The Stone of Madness will mark the second consecutive weekly Epic giveaway to feature only one free game instead of two. Even so, Epic’s last pair of freebies from April 2 included an unusual two-week offer for the remaster of Tomak: Save the Earth, which will be available until the newly announced giveaway kicks off.

Epic Games Store Free Games Right Now

Since the beginning of 2026, the Epic Games Store has given away 26 freebies that are no longer available. Those offerings consisted of 22 games and four DLC packs valued at $644.76 combined, based on their full retail prices. The Epic Games Store’s 27th freebie of 2026 is Prop Sumo, a zany party game for between two and six people that has players controlling a variety of unassuming household props in chaotic brawls across assorted levels. In addition to that distinct premise, the indie title stands out from Epic’s usual weekly offerings as a rare day-one freebie, having released just one hour before Epic temporarily waved away its $9.99 price tag on April 9. The launch version of Prop Sumo includes more than 40 playable props, 22 items that can be used as weapons against rivals, and nine maps. It also features a training “dojo” mode, allowing players to practice the controls and experiment with items before jumping into multiplayer.

As an online-only party game, Prop Sumo supports private lobbies with granular settings, giving hosts extensive control over matches. It also includes a friend pass system, allowing people who do not own the game to join a session hosted by someone who does. In other words, if just one person grabs Prop Sumo during Epic’s newly launched giveaway, up to six people can play that single free copy of the game at the same time. Any keys earned while using the friend pass carry over to the full version if a player later decides to buy it. The keys themselves are used to unlock new cosmetics, ultimate abilities, and props to play with. Prop Sumo and its limited-time launch discount arrive about 18 months after developer Barrel Roll Games first partnered with the Epic Games Store on a week-long Witch It giveaway. With the new offer, the German indie studio is now two for two in turning its games into temporary EGS freebies.
