Escape From Tarkov players are reporting major server issues following the game’s 1.0 and Steam launch. It will not be the dream release that the developer of Escape From Tarkov, Battlestate Games, had hoped for.
The 1.0 release of Escape From Tarkov has been eight years coming. The extraction shooter first entered early access back in 2017, and was only available via the Battlestate Games Launcher until now. There had been tons of anticipation for Escape From Tarkov‘s Steam release, as it opens the game up to a broader audience than ever before. However, with the game now fully released, things aren’t quite going to plan.
Escape From Tarkov 1.0 Release Causes Huge Server Problems
As of right now, Escape From Tarkov‘s 1.0 release has left many players completely unable to play. The servers are being overwhelmed right now, and players are experiencing widespread auth errors and connection failures. The game’s subreddit is being inundated with threads from new players who are reporting these issues. While veteran Tarkov players may be used to server issues by now, it’s understandably confusing for new players trying to hop in on Steam for the first time following the 1.0 launch. Even those trying to access the Battlestate Games website to create an account are, at the time of writing, being met with a wait queue.
The launch day experience has already affected Escape From Tarkov‘s Steam reviews. With just 57% positive reviews, Escape From Tarkov is “Mixed” on Steam, with many reviews mentioning these launch issues as a major factor. Prior to its release, game director Nikita Buyanov commented on the possibility of Escape From Tarkov being review-bombed on Steam, and that already seems to be taking hold.
It’s worth remembering that the bulk of these server issues are down to the massive number of new players attempting to log on to Escape From Tarkov for the first time. Things will hopefully steady when the initial influx of players calms. Escape From Tarkov is no stranger to community backlash, and no doubt it will emerge from the other side of these initial frustrations, too.
