Sony’s next State of Play has officially been confirmed for Thursday, February 12, 2026, and it is already slated to be one of the longest events in the showcase’s history with over an hour of announcements and updates. Historically, the State of Play has only lasted around 30–40 minutes, so with this one being double that and potentially even more, Sony has an unprecedented amount of time to pack its 2026 release calendar into one showcase if it really wants to.

As far as which games might be making an appearance in the upcoming State of Play, Sony has yet to outright reveal any, and it’s more likely the company will refrain from doing so. What it has confirmed is that it will feature “news, gameplay updates, and announcements from studios across the globe,” as expected, including third-party, indie, and PlayStation Studios games. Nothing more specific has been shared publicly by Sony, so any mention of specific titles before the stream goes live comes from leaks and rumors. Even so, there have been quite a few rumors and leaks surrounding said titles, some of which have a greater chance of actually showing up.

Games That Could Appear During the February 2026 State of Play

  • Saros
  • Marvel’s Wolverine
  • Devil May Cry 6
  • God of War Spin-Off
  • Resident Evil Requiem

Known Insider Shinobi602 has suggested that it would make sense for Cory Barlog and Santa Monica Studio’s new IP to be there, although they stopped short of saying it was.

Saros (Very Likely to Appear)

One of the strongest bets for February’s State of Play is Returnal developer Housemarque’s Saros, an action game set to be released for the PlayStation 5 on April 30, 2026. At this point, the likelihood of Saros appearing in the showcase isn’t reliant on rumors and leaks but on its release date. With its launch just around the corner, the action game will likely receive a last-minute marketing push this week, especially considering it appeared in a previous State of Play last September. A dedicated gameplay breakdown, or even new cinematic footage, would line up with how Sony has handled similar games in the past.

Despite not being tied to leaks, numerous media outlets reporting on the State of Play—like The Verge and Vice—have already mentioned Saros as a probable candidate for the showcase. Plus, since Housemarque is owned by PlayStation Studios and the game is being published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, its status as a first-party title for the company, especially when combined with its looming release date, all but makes it a shoo-in for the State of Play.

Marvel’s Wolverine (Possible Due to a Recent Leak)

Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine could also be making an appearance in the upcoming State of Play due to a recent leak. A Reddit post by user Carwillat901 revealed that the listing for Marvel’s Wolverine on the Latin American PlayStation Store shows the game is slated for a Q3 2026 release. It’s unclear how long the release window has been listed on the game’s page, but assuming it was a fairly recent leak, there’s reason to believe the game could receive an official release date trailer during the upcoming State of Play. Marvel’s Wolverine, like Saros, is also a first-party title for Sony, as Insomniac Games is part of PlayStation Studios. That alone increases the likelihood that it will make an appearance during the showcase, but its leaked release window adds fuel to that fire as well.

Finally, Marvel’s Wolverine also showed up alongside Saros at last September’s State of Play, where it was announced that the game would launch in Fall 2026. Assuming the Q3 2026 release window leak for Marvel’s Wolverine is accurate, however, that could see the game launching anytime between July and September instead, rather than the Fall 2026 window of late September through December. As such, a potentially earlier release date than initially expected suggests all the more that Marvel’s Wolverine could get a big update in the upcoming State of Play.

Devil May Cry 6 (Leaked, But Not From a Vetted Source)

A recent leak suggests Devil May Cry 6 could be announced during the State of Play showcase as well, but there’s a catch. The leak came from user @TripleSevven_ via a post XCancel, as shared in a separate post by Reddit user Solid-Entertainer-39. In the post, Solid-Entertainer-39 mentioned that leaks from that account have been accurate in the past, but simultaneously encouraged readers to take the information with a “big grain of salt.”

Numerous comments on the post have expressed skepticism regarding the leak, with most of them confirming they have never heard of the source before. Even without solid leaks, though, Devil May Cry 6 is still a plausible candidate for a surprise mention at the State of Play. The series is one of Capcom’s most popular franchises, and the developer has a habit of announcing big titles on Sony stages. Furthermore, the upcoming 25th anniversary of Devil May Cry (August 2026) makes a reveal here a logical possibility, though nothing official has been confirmed.

God of War 2.5D Metroidvania Spin-off (Leaked From Credible Insiders Last Year)

Another possible attendee to this week’s State of Play is a God of War 2.5D Metroidvania spin-off that was leaked last year by credible insiders in the gaming industry. In June 2025, in a post via XCancel, industry insider Tom Henderson mentioned he had been “hearing a lot of scuttlebutt” about the game, with Jeff Grubb, another credible insider, then corroborating that information with a simple “yeah.” At the time, it seemed likely that the game would be revealed during a State of Play that month, but that speculation never came to fruition.

Considering both Henderson and Grubb stated that this very interesting God of War Metroidvania project was on the table last year, and it hasn’t been officially revealed yet, it’s possible that the upcoming State of Play could finally accomplish that for it. Henderson did mention that the game is “much smaller in scale” than his initial projections as well, meaning if the project is real, its development could be close to finished. Still, whether it appears in this week’s showcase is very much up in the air, though that hasn’t stopped other media outlets from putting it on the list of potential reveals.

Resident Evil Requiem Demo Announcement (Based on Capcom History and Speculation)

Finally, Resident Evil Requiem could also be making an appearance at this week’s State of Play, and that possibility ultimately boils down to its upcoming release date, Capcom history, and speculation. A fairly recent Reddit post from user Own_Emergency9587 speculated that a Resident Evil Requiem demo would be released on February 13, per Capcom’s penchant for doing so on a Friday two weeks before a game’s release. As the post states, the developer did the same thing with the remakes for Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, and with Requiem launching on February 27, 2026, two weeks before that would be Friday, February 13. It would also be a bit on-brand for Capcom to release a demo for the game on Friday the 13th—a date that has long been associated with bad luck, superstition, and horror imagery.

Even if a demo isn’t announced for it in this week’s State of Play, the fact that Resident Evil Requiem‘s release is imminent suggests it could at least receive a last-minute marketing push during the event. Whether that takes the form of a demo announcement or simply another brief trailer, Resident Evil Requiem sits in the same near-release sweet spot as other games that have historically shown up in State of Play presentations, making it one of the more reasonable wildcards in an otherwise rumor-heavy lineup.

The next State of Play event takes place on Thursday, February 12 at 2 PM PT, 5 PM ET, and 11 PM CET.
