The official PC system requirements for Fable have been revealed, and Playground Games says players will be able to enter Albion with hardware as old as an RTX 2060. Recent gameplay previews have shown the depth and detail of Fable, featuring a jaw-dropping number of persistent NPCs, enterable buildings, businesses, and extensive relationship systems, all part of the game’s open world.
Playground Games has spent years building technically impressive environments through the Forza Horizon series, but Fable presents a very different challenge as an open-world RPG. The game’s Living Population system gives more than 1,000 handcrafted NPCs their own personalities and routines, while players can befriend them, antagonize them, employ them, or even marry them. Players can also enter every building and buy houses and businesses, giving fans the fantasy life-sim elements they have come to expect from the franchise. With so much happening beneath the surface, the relatively approachable Fable PC requirements may encourage players with aging hardware.
Fable PC Specs Range From RTX 2060 to RTX 5080
At the lowest preset, Fable targets 1080p at 30 FPS with a Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i7-6850K alongside an RTX 2060, RTX 5050, RX 6600, or Intel Arc A580, with 12GB of RAM and 6GB of VRAM required. Medium settings target either 1440p at 30 FPS or 1200p at 60 FPS using an RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 5060, RX 6700 XT, or RX 9060 XT. Requirements climb more sharply from there, with 1440p at 60 FPS calling for an RTX 5070 or RTX 3080 Ti, while 4K at 60 FPS on Ultra requires an RTX 5080 or RTX 4080. Interestingly, system memory tops out at just 16GB even at Ultra, although VRAM rises to 16GB. Playground has not clearly stated whether these targets assume upscaling, though the PC version of Fable supports Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR.

Rearrange the covers into the correct Japanese release order.
However, storage is one area where Fable is considerably less forgiving than its minimum GPU requirement might suggest. The PC version requires an SSD and about 135GB of available space, which puts it on the larger side for game installations, though that figure isn’t especially unusual for a major AAA release these days. For a game filled with enterable interiors, a dense population, detailed environments, and a large open world, the storage requirement may provide another indication of just how much content Playground is packing into Fable.
The minimum specifications for Fable have received a more positive response than its higher spec requirements. An RTX 2060 is relatively old hardware for a major 2027 release, and some PC players have taken its inclusion as an encouraging sign that Playground is designing the game to scale across a wide range of systems. Others are less impressed by the continued use of 30 FPS targets, particularly at the recommended level, as many fans consider 60 FPS to be the PC standard. There is also uncertainty about whether the listed resolutions are native, making it hard to judge exactly how demanding Fable‘s open world and various environments on PC will be until more detailed benchmarks arrive.
That uncertainty makes the RTX 2060/Ryzen 5 2600 minimum more interesting than the much more intimidating RTX 5080 requirement. A modern open-world RPG demanding expensive hardware at 4K Ultra is hardly surprising, but getting Fable‘s dense population, enterable properties, businesses, relationships, and background simulation running on an eight-year-old mainstream GPU and CPU would be considerably more impressive. Final performance will still depend on optimization and individual settings, but Playground’s initial specifications suggest the game may be far more scalable than its ambition would imply. For many PC players, that could matter far more than how demanding Fable becomes at 4K.
