In the harsh deserts of New Vegas, good weapons and armor are crucial for survival. During your journeys, both the weapons and armor you use will get damaged, making you more vulnerable. Of course, you can change your equipment to something else, but this will not always be an option, especially if you have found a unique weapon. How to Repair Armor and Weapons in Fallout New Vegas

Fallout New Vegas: Stats - Skills

In general, there are several methods you can use to repair your weapons and armor. You can do it yourself, provided you have the right resources and a high level of Repair skill, or you can pay certain vendors some Caps to do it for you, so let’s talk about these methods in more detail.

Manual Repair

Repairing items manually is more difficult but much cheaper than paying vendors. All you need to repair a particular Fallout weapon or armor is a duplicate of that item. If you have two same weapons or armor pieces, follow the steps below:

  • Open Pip Boy.
  • Go to the inventory tab. Here, find and select the item you want to repair and press the R key on the PC, triangle button on PlayStation, or Y on Xbox.
  • This will take you to the repair menu, divided into two sections. On the right, you will see the item you are repairing, as well as the condition (CND) indicator. On the left is a list of items that you can use for repair, and on the right is an indicator that shows how much the main item will be repaired.
  • Now, simply select one of the items on the list on the left and click on it to destroy it to repair your chosen gear.

Using this way, you can repair the desired item partially or completely, provided you have enough duplicates. If you have a bonus like Jury Rigging, it will be much easier to repair armor and weapons because now instead of duplicates, you can use any item similar to the one you are repairing.

The Shovel is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas that has multiple uses. This guide will show you where you can grab it.

Weapon Repair Kit

Another alternative to manual repair is to use the Weapon Repair Kit. In this case, you can use this consumable to repair only weapons. There is no such kit for armor, but there are some mods that add it. You can find a Weapon Repair Kit while traveling the world or craft it yourself. To craft a Weapon Repair Kit, you will first need to level up your Repair to 50. If you have already done so, interact with the Workbench to craft this consumable from the following resources:

  • Wrench x1
  • Duct tape x1
  • Wonderglue x1
  • Scrap electronics x1
  • Scrap metal x2

When you receive the Weapon Repair Kit, you can use it, and your main weapon will be repaired.

Visit the Vendors

The last and most expensive method to repair your weapon or armor is to find and interact with vendors. It’s worth noting that this will cost you a lot, and not all vendors can repair your equipment to 100%, as some don’t have high Repair skill.

In this case, it is best to use the services of Major Knight, a vendor located in Mojave Outpost. His Repair skill is maxed out, so you can come to him anytime to use his services. Furthermore, if you unlock the Confirmed Bachelor dialog option, Major Knight will repair any of your equipment up to 74%, but it only works once.
