A new Pokémon game has finally been revealed. Fans can finally wash the bad taste of Scarlet and Violet from their mouths with Winds and Waves in, well, another 18 months or so. But while the wait to actually play the new Gen 10 entry continues, fans already have lots of thoughts on Pokémon Winds and Waves art, starters, and Pikachu’s unexpected trip to the 2028 Republican Convention.

Of the three new starters, Pombon is already the runaway favorite. And can you really blame anyone? Browt is another grass bird type (sigh) and Gecqua is another amphibious water type who’s probably ready to sell you some car insurance. Whle Pombon is technically yet another fiery canine being added to the series, his tongue-wagging swagger has already charmed fans into riding and dying for the little furball king.

Fans are also shocked that Winds and Waves actually looks surprisingly good for a Pokémon game. That’s a big silver lining to the game being a Switch 2 exclusive and not actually coming out until 2027.

But the whole Gen 10 reveal was kicked off with a vacationing Pikachu couple decked out in tropical summer fits. Are they ready to chill out on the beach or drag you to a Kid Rock fundraiser concert? But they weren’t just for show. They’re actually part of the game. And they have names: Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu. This is real.

Pokémon Winds and Waves might be a long ways off, but players who are hyped up on Pombon love can still go revisit Pokémon GreenLeaf and FireRed which are out on Switch today. The Pokémon you capture there are transferable to Pokémon Home and the latest generation of games. It’ll cost you a pretty penny for a barebones trip down memory lane but I’m guessing we’re all ready to pay it. Nobody puts a price on nostalgia quite like Pokémon, but the future is looking bright too. You can read all the other news from today’s Pokémon 30th Anniversary Presents showcase here.
