Final Fantasy 14 players will have even less time to claim prizes from an ongoing crossover event, as Square Enix confirmed the critically-acclaimed MMORPG will undergo 24 hours of server maintenance soon. Final Fantasy 14 is currently experiencing a “calm before the storm” period, as players prepare for the launch of the Evercold expansion in January.
The news came weeks after Final Fantasy 14 launched Patch 7.56 on September 8. The 7.56 update included some main story quests that bridged the gap between Dawntrail and Evercold as the Warrior of Light and their comrades seek ways to prevent a disaster called the Solstice from impacting their world. Along with the new story quests, Patch 7.56 also introduced the Beastmaster as FF14‘s second Limited Job. The Beastmaster is an axe-wielding melee DPS Job that fights alongside their bestial familiars to overcome challenges.
Final Fantasy 14 Players are Almost Out of Time to Get the Regalia Mount
However, Final Fantasy 14 players will soon be temporarily unable to log into the game. According to a Lodestone notice from Square Enix, FF14‘s servers will undergo maintenance for 24 hours, starting Monday, October 12, at 6:00 AM Eastern. The game and several website features will be unavailable throughout the day, with maintenance concluding on October 13. The upcoming downtime means that players will not have as much time to participate in an ongoing crossover event with Final Fantasy 15. The key rewards that players can get from the FF15 crossover are the Regalia Type-G mount, which seats up to four players, Noctis’ Lucian Prince attire, and the Lucian Locks hairstyle. Since the FF15 crossover will end its current run on Tuesday, October 13, at 10:59 AM Eastern, players will have just a few hours after maintenance concludes to squeeze out one last opportunity to get any outstanding rewards.

The Regalia Type-G is available to purchase from the Manderville Gold Saucer for 200,000 MGP. Ergo, players will need to participate in Gold Saucer activities, such as the Fashion Report, to gain the required currency. Given that multi-seat mounts in Final Fantasy 14 are usually available via the Online Store for real money, the Regalia Type-G is an exception to this rule due to its limited window of availability. Although the Final Fantasy 15 event has been run multiple times throughout FF14‘s history, its rarity means that players who miss out on it soon will likely have to wait a few years to get another chance.
Square Enix stated that the lengthy maintenance period is due to the introduction of the Same-region Player Matching feature that was announced during the Anaheim FanFest event in April. The feature will be rolled out in Japan starting October 13, which will allow players on the Elemental, Gaia, Mana, and Meteor data centers to use the Party Finder and Duty Finder without needing to go to Final Fantasy 14‘s more populated servers. Same-region Player Matching is currently planned to roll out across North America and Europe before Evercold launches in January.
Thankfully, Final Fantasy 14 players will not have to wait longer to hear more about Evercold, as the Tokyo FanFest keynote will be broadcast on Friday, October 30, at 10:00 PM Eastern. The keynote will likely reveal the identity of Evercold‘s second new Job, along with a precise release date for the upcoming expansion.
