Square Enix recently announced a new Meister Quality figure of Final Fantasy 14‘s Hydaelyn and Zodiark, which is already available for pre-order and comes with a free in-game emote. This set is the latest in a long line of various figures of iconic Final Fantasy characters, which are highly prized by franchise fans and collectors.
After over 10 years and four expansions, Final Fantasy 14 is still going strong, with millions of players enjoying what many consider one of the best MMORPG experiences today. Its last expansion, Endwalker, which released in late 2021, wrapped up the central story arc that had been going since its reboot in 2013. Its next expansion, Dawntrail, set to open up a brand-new chapter in its long-running story, is set to drop in summer 2024.
Final Fantasy 14 Shows Off New Customization Options in Dawntrail
Final Fantasy 14 showcases one of its new and most highly-anticipated customization options it is adding in the Dawntrail expansion.
Square Enix quietly announced the opening of pre-orders for the Hydaelyn and Zodiark figure on its official website. The intricately crafted figure features both gods, known to be locked in an eternal conflict, facing away from each other, and every purchase comes with a code to receive the Ballroom Etiquette, Apocalyptic Charades in-game item that teaches the player character a special emote. The figure will be available to ship by March 2024, but there are no other specific details beyond that.

Hydaelyn and Zodiark are two central figures in the years-long story of Final Fantasy 14, as the gods of light and darkness, respectively. This particular Meister Quality figure commemorates the end of their story in particular, and through its design, evokes the fragile balance between light and dark that the game’s universe must maintain. The 2021 expansion Endwalker tied the almost decade-long plot line up neatly with the definitive defeat of the void-worshipping Ascians, FF14‘s main antagonists up to that point, and as a whole new chapter, Dawntrail looks to change the mood of the game anew.
The new expansion already has a lot of Final Fantasy 14 players excited as well. A recent Dawntrail announcement revealed the Pictomancer, the second new job that will be added to the game, which is customary for each new expansion. The Pictomancer is a ranged DPS class that uses what appears to be paint magic to deal damage, the first since the Dancer was introduced in Shadowbringers. The Viper, a melee DPS class similar to the Ninja, was also revealed prior, and a new Limited Job will be added after launch.
Before Dawntrail arrives in summer 2024, there will be one last update for the game to begin the story’s transition into the new expansion. Patch 6.55, titled Growing Light Part 2 will launch on January 16 and will focus mainly on wrapping up sidequests before the new chapter begins.
Final Fantasy 14
Final Fantasy XIV’s original release was less-than-stellar, with many fans blasting the game for its array of issues. This prompted developers to cancel the MMO and rebuild it as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Since then, the title has seen a massive resurgence and has quickly become one of the best MMOs ever made, with hundreds of thousands of subscribers online at any given time.
