Final Fantasy 14 has officially released a trailer for Patch 7.5, featuring extra details about the Main Scenario Quest, Beastmaster limited job, and more. This information came as part of the Final Fantasy 14 Letter from the Producer LIVE 92, the second broadcast covering this major content update.

“Trail to the Heavens,” FF14 Patch 7.5, is the last major update for the Dawntrail expansion. This Final Fantasy 14 patch is being split up into several smaller releases: 7.5 on April 28, 7.51 in early June, 7.55 in late July, and 7.56 in early September.

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail Patch 7.5 Live Letter Breakdown

Now, ahead of the first part of Patch 7.5, Final Fantasy 14 has revealed more details about this update via a new Live Letter and trailer. This short video not only showed gameplay footage from the patch’s content, but also teased elements of the Main Scenario Quest. During the story, players will return to Endwalker zones like Garlemald and Mare Lamentorum, contend with Voidsent, and come face-to-face with Halmarut, the mysterious Ascian introduced in Patch 7.4. Along the way, fans will encounter some familiar faces who haven’t been seen since the post-Endwalker patch story, including Jullus, Zero, and Golbez. The MSQ will be split into two sections: Part 1 in 7.5 and Part 2 in 7.56.

During the Live Letter, Final Fantasy 14 also revealed how the Beastmaster works. While traveling the game world, players can mark certain beasts for capture using the Catch ability; the lower their health, the better chance one has to collect them when they are defeated. Players can have up to three beasts equipped at once, though only a single beast can be summoned at a time. Coeurls, Dodos, Behemoths, and a charming horned dog creature are just some of the 50 beasts players will be able to capture.

In battle, players cycle through their beasts, borrowing their power with Nature’s Gift, and commanding them to fight directly with unique Tempered Releases, Tricks, and Finishers. While in sanctuaries, players can freely summon their beasts to follow them around. Each beast also has a different element; the Beastmaster can deal extra damage by swapping between beasts of different elements to perform Instinctual Combos, providing additional layers of depth when choosing pet loadouts and abilities.

It is still unclear when exactly the Beastmaster will arrive, but it seems it will not be a part of the April 28 update.

This has only scratched the surface of the content coming in Patch 7.5. Footage of the Windhurst: The Third Walk raid and Archeia Harmonias Crystalline Conflict arena can be seen in the full broadcast VoD. What’s more, other quality-of-life improvements are coming as well, including simplified Sightseeing Log alerts, dungeon gear outfit glamour updates, crafting log convenience, and Chocobo companion reactions to pet and poke emotes.
