Final Fantasy 14 has shared the first teases of Patch 7.5, Trail to the Heavens, which is scheduled to launch on all platforms this spring. Final Fantasy 14 will split the final major update of Dawntrail into four parts, with the biggest chunks coming in the spring and late summer.
Final Fantasy 14’s next patch will arrive almost two months following the release of Patch 7.45, which went live on March 3. Though 7.45 was considered a “minor update” compared to Patch 7.4, the content patch was highlighted by the return of the Variant and Criterion Dungeon systems. The Merchant’s Tale was added to Final Fantasy 14, which took players into a world within a fabled storybook. Patch 7.45 also added the next chapter of the Hildibrand quest chain, and brought a surprise buff to the Reaper Job.
A New Dissidia Final Fantasy Game is Releasing Later This Month
The Dissidia Final Fantasy spin-off series is returning with a new game later this month, though the upcoming title is unlike its predecessors.
Final Fantasy 14’s Trail to the Heavens Update Arrives Soon
Soon, the final update of Dawntrail’s patch cycle will be available for players to experience. During the 91st Letter From the Producer Live broadcast, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida said that Patch 7.5, Trail to the Heavens, will arrive on Tuesday, April 28. The update is slated to arrive just a few days after the 2026 Anaheim FanFest. Patch 7.5’s main story will serve as a bridge towards Final Fantasy 14’s next expansion, tentatively titled “Patch 8.0” by fans. The main story of Patch 7.5 will be split into two halves, with the second half launching in early September in Patch 7.56. As for Final Fantasy 14’s next expansion, the first details about it will be revealed during Anaheim FanFest, so players will not have to wait much longer to learn more. A new trial against a super boss from Final Fantasy 5 Advance, named Enuo, will take place during Patch 7.5’s main story.

Among the items confirmed for Patch 7.5 are the final wing of the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid series, which is a crossover with Final Fantasy 11. This upcoming raid is called Windurst, The Third Walk, and will see players face off against more of FF11’s iconic bosses. Yoshida teased that one of these bosses is Shantotto, a diminutive but powerful sorceress that has appeared in Final Fantasy 11, and in side series like Dissidia Final Fantasy. Players who complete the final FF11-themed alliance raid can earn new pieces of armor, along with a currency that, when combined with coins from the previous Echoes of Vana’diel raids, can be exchanged for materials to upgrade other pieces of gear.
Yoshida, alongside global community producer Toshio Murouchi, shared a roadmap of what else is coming in Patch 7.5 and subsequent updates. The Beastmaster Limited Job, which was first confirmed during the 2024 Tokyo FanFest, will finally arrive later this year. The Beastmaster will have a one-handed axe as their main weapon, and will assume the role of a Melee DPS. The Beastmaster can capture various beasts and use them in dungeons, though it will initially have a level cap of 50. Yoshida confirmed that Final Fantasy 14 lead battle content designer Masaki “Mr. Ozma” Nakagawa was working on Beastmaster, and that the new Limited Job would arrive in one of Patch 7.5’s subsequent updates.
The Side Features of Final Fantasy 14’s 7.5 Update Are Plentiful
Unfortunately, Yoshida confirmed that the development time for Beastmaster meant that any content meant for Final Fantasy 14‘s iteration of Blue Mage was put on the back burner. Despite Yoshida promising that Blue Mage would receive an update during Dawntrail, he said that this would no longer be the case, and apologized to players for the delay. Final Fantasy 14 also confirmed that the game’s seventh Ultimate raid series would arrive shortly after Patch 7.5 is released. The theme of the new Ultimate raid was kept under wraps, as Yoshida said that more details would be revealed in April. Along with this tough, high-end challenge, the Occult Crescent: North Horn will be a new adventuring foray that players can undertake.
The North Horn will also introduce the Forked Tower: Magic raid, which will have Normal and Savage difficulty options from the start. Following player feedback taken from Final Fantasy 14‘s Forked Tower: Blood raid, the Magic counterpart will have a Normal mode similar to the Castrum Lacus Litore and The Dalriada raids from Shadowbringers’ Bozja forays. Final Fantasy 14‘s 7.5 update will also increase the housing furnishing caps across the board, depending on the home’s size. For example, a medium house will have its furnishing and storeroom caps raised from 300 to 450 each. Dyes will also be consolidated into three categories, though some colors like Jet Black and Pure White will remain as they are. All in all, Patch 7.5 looks to be one of the largest updates for Final Fantasy 14 to date.
