Square Enix has revealed the official patch notes for Final Fantasy 16 update 1.31, which releases alongside the game’s second DLC expansion, The Rising Tide. This new Final Fantasy 16 update is required for players wanting to begin the new DLC scenario later this week.

In The Rising Tide, Final Fantasy 16 protagonist Clive Rosfield receives an unmarked letter, with a request for rescue from the Dominant of Leviathan. After some discussion at the hideaway, Clive and his allies accept the request and head to Mysidia in order to find the Eikon of Water. Players will soon uncover the history and secrets of Mysidia’s forgotten people while trying to avert another crisis. Clive will also gain new abilities from Leviathan, acquire new weapons such as Final Fantasy 14‘s Curtana sword, and help the people of Mysidia in new side quests.

A new custom controller setting will be added in update 1.31, giving players the ability to assign the functionality of each button on their controllers. New skill sets will be available with up to a total of five that may be created and used in combat. Players may switch between these skill sets by pressing L1 or R1 in the game. In addition, more functions will be available in Final Fantasy 16’s Photo Mode, including screen effects and tone correction.

Lastly, minor adjustments to system features will be applied alongside various bug fixes. These bug fixes improve game stability, resolve problems with certain NPCs and ally AI, and correct issues involving gameplay mechanics and Final Fantasy 16‘s general UI.
