British theme park resort Chessington has formally revealed a Minecraft-themed hotel scheduled to open in 2027, featuring decor inspired by the Mojang survival game. The Minecraft resort promises “immersive spaces” for fans of the game and themed menu options at its restaurant.
The sandbox survival game from Mojang has been a cultural phenomenon since its release in 2011, quickly becoming one of the most popular games in the world. The game has seen steady support since its release, with consistent updates introducing new items, enemies, and even recently confirming a new dimension coming to Minecraft. Mojang has also expanded Minecraft far beyond its video game roots, launching Minecraft toys, books, and even a successful feature film with a sequel currently in production. Now, Minecraft fans in the UK will soon have the chance to stay at a unique new hotel inspired by the game.

UK-based entertainment company Merlin Entertainment officially revealed a new Minecraft-inspired hotel coming to the Chessington theme park and resort. The hotel will feature an assortment of decorations based on the survival game, including “blocky trees and animals” in the lobby and Nether Portal-themed elevators. The corridors of the hotel will also give guests the feeling of being transported into Minecraft‘s world, with the hallways of the hotel featuring designs based on the mineshafts found in Minecraft‘s underground. Chessington’s Minecraft hotel is scheduled to open in 2027, though an official date was not confirmed within the announcement.

The Minecraft theming will extend into many of the facilities offered by the hotel. Rooms will be filled with furniture inspired by the game, from blocky trees, chests, and TNT block tables scattered around the room to themed pillows and blankets on the beds. The hotel will also feature a restaurant with decor “inspired by Minecraft‘s ocean biomes,” likely including special menu items based on different in-game food. An in-house bar will offer “vibrant potions” to guests staying in the hotel, and will evoke the game’s Woodland Mansion for its appearance.
Minecraft‘s theme hotel is the newest expansion of the iconic game brand’s reach. Mojang has teamed up with LEGO multiple times to release Minecraft-themed sets, including a recent LEGO kit based on Minecraft Dungeons 2 to celebrate the launch of the spin-off sequel. The massively popular survival game has even featured a theme park DLC, allowing players to explore Universal Studios in the Universal Studios Experience DLC map.
Minecraft fans will have plenty to look forward to from the original game, aside from the new hotel. Alongside the recent announcement of the upcoming Sift dimension, Mojang revealed a brand-new biome coming to the game with the introduction of ice caves to Minecraft. The new biome will introduce Frozen Zombies to the game as a new enemy, alongside new decorative blocks like icicles and ice crystals found throughout the chilly caves. Mojang continues to bring exciting new content to Minecraft to keep the game fresh, more than a decade after it took the gaming world by storm.
