After massive balance changes to races just a few days ago, World of Warcraft: Forever is now nerfing one of the most popular classes in the game right before launch. The new “Classic Plus” game was first announced at BlizzCon, and its beta ended a week ago, a little over one month after its introduction, with Blizzard now preparing for launch on November 4. As of yesterday, players can also reserve their character names ahead of World of Warcraft: Forever‘s launch, though someone on Twitter already got Leroy Jenkins.
After the beta, Blizzard is making several changes to the game before it finally comes out, and this includes racial buffs and nerfs. One of the biggest changes is that the Undead’s Touch of the Grave is nerfed in WoW: Forever, and it’s a major nerf, going from a negligible internal cooldown to 25 seconds. This makes Undead hardly competitive with other races now, as their other racial abilities and passives are not great by comparison. Some racial abilities have been buffed, too, such as Tauren now moving much faster with Plainsrunning. Still, there could be even more changes leading up to November 4.
World of Warcraft: Forever Officially Nerfs Hunter Ahead of November 4 Release
In a new post, Blizzard announced upcoming nerfs to the most played class in the WoW: Forever beta. According to statistics, Hunter was the most played class in the beta at over 15.5% of the total population, with Warrior following in second place at slightly over 12%, and Paladin in third place at just under 12%. Now, Blizzard is heavily nerfing Aspect of the Hawk and Trueshot Aura, effectively making Hunters less powerful and desirable in endgame content. Not only that, but rooting effects from Counterattack, Entrapment, and Improved Wing Clip also share a diminishing return with other root abilities from the group, such as Frostbite from Mages and Improved Hamstring from Warriors. After the race nerfs, Human is the best race in WoW: Forever, most likely, and it’s also the most paired with Hunter when looking at data from the beta.

The nerfs Hunter is getting don’t make the class unplayable, but since Trueshot Aura is a raid buff, it may be less desirable to pick as a talent, and even then, it may not grant Hunters a raid spot. The overall nerfs to ranged builds also push for more Hunter players to switch over to Survival, which had very good DPS in the beta, but it’s a drastically different spec due to its melee focus. The recent patches also made huge changes to World of Warcraft: Forever‘s Skyborne elves, as they saw their newly buffed Haste modifier go down again, this time from 3% to 2%.
Humans saw their racials changed in WoW: Forever, too, with Ruthless going from a blanket 2% critical chance modifier to 1%, but their Spirit bonus is now 10% instead of 5%. Since other races lost their crit chance passives or lost critical damage buffs, such as Tauren and Dwarf, Human is most likely still sitting on top of the DPS charts.
The changes that Blizzard made to Warrior in WoW: Forever in the past weeks are a good sign that the studio is trying to address issues with each class before launch. This means that there could very well be more patches before the game is released.
