Fortnite has brought nine items back to Battle Royale, but they can only be obtained through the Dark Voyager’s drones. Chapter 7 Season 2 brings back The Foundation and Ice King, important characters to Fortnite lore. The Foundation and the Ice King are enemies, and each player has to pick which side of the battle they’re on as soon as they launch the game for the first time this season. This will be a major decision, as they are openly fighting for their team throughout Chapter 7 Season 2, which is why it has been dubbed “Fortnite Showdown.”
With Fortnite‘s new Rivalries mechanic, players have to battle enemies on the opposing team in-game. When a game starts, they can interact with a Rivalry Screen and initiate a rivalry with another player. Whoever wins the rivalry receives a point that counts towards their team’s progress on the Showdown screen. As each team gains more points, they will complete milestones, which give players (on both teams) access to new items, heals, and even gameplay mechanics.
Should You Pick Team Foundation or Ice King in Fortnite?
Fortnite Showdown has players pick a side between Team Foundation and Team Ice King. Find out the benefits to both and what you should pick.
Fortnite Unvaults Weapons From Previous Chapters
Even though Chapter 7 Season 2 hasn’t been live for long, Team Ice King has already reached the third milestone in Act 1, which means they’ve unlocked the Dark Voyager’s Drone. During a match of Battle Royale, the Stabilize the Anomaly event can now occur. If so, Dark Voyager’s drones will appear on the map through Rift Tears, and players will be tasked with finding them and destroying them. Once they eliminate all the drones, they’ll be able to loot the rift and will receive a mighty reward for their efforts in Fortnite. While it is tempting to run towards the anomaly and start shooting at the drones, gamers must still keep an eye on their surroundings, as many of their opponents will surely want to secure this rare weapon for themselves and might attack while they’re distracted.
Weapons Available Through the Dark Voyager’s Drone Rift Anomaly
- Grapple Blade (Epic)
- Typhoon Blade (Epic)
- Chains of Hades (Epic)
- The Kneecapper (Epic)
- Explosive Repeater Rifle (Legendary)
- Modular Gatekeeper Shotgun (Legendary)
- Havoc Suppressed Assault Rifle (Legendary)
- Baron’s Double Down Pistol (Mythic)
- Thorne’s Vampiric Blade (Mythic)
Since these rewards come from a tear in reality, they are able to grant gamers loot from previous seasons. The items found in the rift anomaly are exclusive to this event, which means players can search as many chests as they wish around the map, and they won’t be able to obtain them any other way. Players can find nine different weapons by completing the Stabilize the Anomaly event in Fortnite. If they have time and a way to easily move around the Battle Royale island, it is worth checking out as many rifts as possible, as they can quickly get a purely golden arsenal, which may just secure a Victory Royale. There are tons of great weapons in Chapter 7 Season 2, but these unvaulted items are bound to shake up the current meta.
Act 1 has five milestones in total, and players have already reached the third one. The story will progress each month, giving players new objectives and rewards to fight for. Ice King players have to keep going, as they still have two milestones to unlock. They still need to win enough rivalries to unlock the Enhanced Harpoon Gun and the Ice King’s Vault Key. As for players who chose Team Foundation, they need to fight for the Golden Fishing Spots and the Seven Compound Vault Key. While they’re attempting to win as many rivalries as possible, players can also attempt to complete the Fortnite Showdown Global Leaderboard Quests to get a bunch of freebies.
