Steam’s free game promotions have lined up in a way that there are currently 7 different games available right now, plus 5 freebies spread across this weekend and into October. This should mean Steam users can find something to play this weekend and/or have more to keep an eye on in the future.
Perhaps the biggest free game offering right now is Diablo 4 on Steam, with Blizzard letting players explore Sanctuary to their heart’s content. Of course, a loot-and-build heavy ARPG is not going to be for everyone, so these free game offerings include co-op games, multiplayer games, RTS games, special rewards, and more. Details, as well as links, to each promotion are listed below.
Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion lets users claim a game and add it to their digital library forever, as long as they do so before a specific date (listed below in parentheses for each game). Even if someone can’t play right now, it’s recommended to always claim it to play later. This promotion typically features fully paid, premium games, but from time to time, it’ll add DLC content. Luckily, 3/4 of the Steam Free-to-Keep Giveaways are full games. The first is Crystal Crisis, a Tetris-like game featuring fighting mechanics, and the second is the sci-fi exploration RTS Space Menace. The third is Deadshot, a retro first-person shooter inspired by Half-Life, Doom, Quake, and so forth. To celebrate Dying Light: The Beast‘s anniversary, Steam and Techland are also giving away a DLC that celebrates the first game to all those who own the zombie-killing title.

Steam’s Free Weekend Promotion works in reverse when compared to the Free-to-Keep Promotion. Steam users can dive into each of the games below as much as they want, with only a few games sometimes having limitations, but they lose access after the specified date below. These free Steam games typically run the gamut genre-wise, but it seems that Steam wants everyone to check out co-op and multiplayer games this weekend.
- Diablo 4 – Demonic ARPG with a focus on builds and loot
- Sea of Thieves – Pirate action adventure sandbox game
- Last Flag – Multiplayer game focused on Capture the Flag
- Jump Space – mission-based co-op PvE sci-fi game for 1-4 players
Each of the above games is available until September 21 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET.
Steam’s backend information also accurately lists upcoming giveaways sometimes months in advance. That doesn’t mean the above games are the only free PC games this weekend, or even on Steam, but it does mean that nothing is confirmed for Steam’s Free-to-Keep or Free Weekend Promotions right now. More could absolutely crop up out of nowhere, however, but it is good to know that Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion has a few listings for October already. 3 of them are cosmetic DLCs for brand-new video games, namely MXGP26, Gear.Club Unlimited 3, and Hunting Simulator 3. Joining them on the Steam Free-to-Keep Promotion for October 2026 is Fireside Feelings, a narrative and dialogue-heavy cozy game.
- Fireside Feelings – Dialogue-Heavy Cozy Game
- MXGP 26 – Scrubdesignz Liveries – DLC for MXGP 26
- Gear.Club Unlimited 3 Gear.Club Signature Pack – DLC for Gear.Club Unlimited 3
- Hunting Simulator 3 – Classic American Hunter Pack – DLC for Hunting Simulator 3
It’s uncertain when Steam will add these freebies in October, but fans can reliably expect to see them then.
