The Imaginarium Theater in Genshin Impact allows players to borrow one character from a friend’s account, and a recent leak precisely explains how this new feature works. Since launch, the Spiral Abyss was the closest thing that Genshin Impact had to an endgame. It enabled players to push their characters and team-building knowledge to the limit, and it evolved alongside Genshin Impact as more enemies and gameplay styles emerged.

Though the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact is considered a staple of its gameplay loop, players have also clamored for more endgame variety. Whereas certain limited events have provided a combat challenge, the lack of permanency made them a poor substitute for the Spiral Abyss. However, Version 4.7 is expected to introduce a new Spiral Abyss mode to Genshin Impact, and it comes with its own set of novelties and peculiarities.

The new endgame mode is known as the Imaginarium Theater, and its inaugural season takes place in Mondstadt. It can be accessed via Lisa’s library in the Knights of Favonius headquarters, and it places a particular emphasis on horizontal investment. Not only are players restricted by Element type in terms of which Genshin Impact characters are eligible to participate, but they are expected to have 18 characters at Level 70 to tackle the Hard Mode in the Imaginarium Theater. In order to make this requirement more palatable, information shared by Chalice Leaks on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit explains that players will be able to borrow one character from a friend’s account. However, this feature apparently has some important restrictions to consider, according to the leak.

Borrowing Characters in Genshin Impact for the Imaginarium Theater

  • Players can designate up to seven characters from their account as Assisting Characters.
  • Their friends can choose one character total to be an Assisting Character.
  • The Assisting Character can help a player for a total of 15 encounters per season.
  • Players can only designate characters that match the Element restriction imposed by a season.
  • Aloy and the Traveler cannot be designated as Assisting Characters.

The first season of the Imaginarium Theater will only allow Pyro, Electro, and Anemo characters to participate. However, it will also feature “Special Guests” as a unique role, who will be able to override these requirements entirely. The first season will feature Sigewinne, Wriothesley, Alhaitham, and Baizhu as Special Guests. Given that Baizhu is scheduled to appear in the second half of Version 4.6, it’s quite possible that both Alhaitham and Wriothesley could feature on the Event Banners in Genshin Impact Version 4.7.

Completing the Imaginarium Theater will award players with 620 Primogems, and clearing the Spiral Abyss will now give 800 Primogems instead. However, with the introduction of the new game mode, Genshin Impact will only reset the Spiral Abyss once per month, which will almost certainly spark some controversy in the community. It remains to be seen if the Imaginarium Theater will alternate with the Spiral Abyss or if both modes will feature alongside each other.
