Highlights

  • Hydro characters are crucial in Genshin Impact for powerful Elemental Reactions, making Sigewinne’s low Hydro application worrisome.
  • Clorinde, another upcoming character, has a more consistent Electro application, potentially making her a better choice than Sigewinne.
  • Sigewinne’s role as a 5-star Hydro healer may be overshadowed by other options unless her Hydro application is improved before release.

A recent Genshin Impact leak revealed key information about Clorinde and Sigewinne’s ability kits, and it may have some bad news for players who were hopeful about Sigewinne’s potential as a 5-Star Hydro character. Since launch, Genshin Impact has considered Hydro to be a premium element, as many of the game’s best Elemental Reactions are locked behind having a Hydro character on the team. As a result, the number of 4-Star Hydro characters remains limited even after the launch of Fontaine.

Given the nature of the element, Genshin Impact players tend to prioritize Hydro characters with reliable Hydro applications. 5-Stars such as Furina, Yelan, and especially Kokomi thrive in this category, on top of fulfilling their intended role in the team. Sigewinne’s ability kit in Genshin Impact establishes her as a Hydro 5-Star healer that uses the Bond of Life to enhance her healing while boosting Elemental Skill damage for the party. On paper, it sounds like Sigewinne fulfills a niche different from Kokomi, and should have no trouble establishing herself as a premium healer for Furina.

Sigewinne Has Unusually Low Hydro Application for a 5-Star Character

In reality, information gleamed from the recent beta has some troubling implications on Sigewinne’s value as a 5-Star Hydro character. HomDGCat reveals that Sigewinne’s Elemental Skill will have 5 instances of damage, but will only apply Hydro once, whereas her Elemental Burst will have six instances of damage, and only apply Hydro on the first hit. Even though Sigewinne’s fourth Constellation will grant a second Hydro application on the Elemental Burst, her ability to consistently apply Hydro would still be unusually low.

By contrast, Clorinde’s Elemental Skill will grant her an Electro application every three Normal Attacks, and she will always apply Electro with a sword attack while her Bond of Life is at Tier 3. Like Sigewinne, Clorinde’s Elemental Burst will only apply a single instance of Electro during the first hit. Unlike Sigewinne, Clorinde makes up for it with her Elemental Skill, which is the primary source of her damage. Clorinde in Genshin Impact can easily establish herself as an Aggravate option with Baizhu as a healer, but Sigewinne’s role remains uncertain.

While numbers and even entire ability kits can dramatically change during the beta, as was recently the case with Arlecchino in Version 4.6, some players can’t help but wonder if Sigewinne will end up on the Standard Banner in Genshin Impact. Whereas Dehya and Tighnari were introduced as Standard Banner characters in Sumeru, Fontaine has only released Limited Banner characters thus far. Though Sigewinne has an interesting ability kit, she will likely be sidelined for better options unless her Hydro application is improved.
