Genshin Impact has officially kicked off the drip marketing for Lohen, confirming the 5-Star Cryo Polearm’s release date as June 10. The upcoming Genshin Impact update brings a conclusion to some important storylines for both Sumeru and Nod-Krai, but most notably, it also introduces three new characters to the playable roster: Nicole, Lohen, and Prune. All three are members of the Hexerei, and Lohen in particular has received praise for having a fun playstyle.
Whereas Nicole in Genshin Impact is expected to be a 5-Star Pyro Catalyst who provides powerful buffs, a shield, and coordinated attacks, Lohen is her opposite – a pure hypercarry who works best in Hexerei teams. His ability kit revolves around infusing his Normal and Charged Attacks with Cryo, and then generating separate stacks by personally dealing damage and via damage dealt by teammates. Personal stacks unlock a special Elemental Skill with potency that scales with the number of teammate stacks. This makes Durin his best teammate by far, but Xiangling is a notable (and cheaper) alternative, provided Lohen is paired up with another Hexerei character.
Genshin Impact Officially Reveals Nicole’s Release Date
In a new post, Genshin Impact reveals Nicole, the upcoming 5-Star Pyro Catalyst, setting her release date and unveiling new lore.
Genshin Impact: Lohen Will Become Playable on June 10
The drip marketing for Lohen was posted a day after Nicole’s across social media, effectively revealing his release date as June 10, 2026. He will accompany Mavuika on the Event Banners during the second half of Version 6.6, while the first half will feature Nicole and Durin in Genshin Impact. Given that Prune was announced on the same day as Lohen, precedent implies that she will be one of the 4-Star characters featured on his debut banner. However, Genshin Impact players can wait until the next Special Program Announcement for an official confirmation on the 4-Star Anemo Catalyst.
From a lore standpoint, Lohen is a Vice Captain in the Knights of Favonius, specifically belonging to the Fifth Company that specializes in ranged combat. Ironically, Lohen himself prefers to be a frontline fighter and has been compared to Tartaglia in Genshin Impact due to a shared love for battle. He uses a polearm and a dagger as part of his ability kit, with the latter coming out during his Elemental Burst. The drip marketing portrays Lohen as a courteous gentleman, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
From a gameplay standpoint, there’s a reason people are excited. Lohen is rumored to be the next addition to the Standard Banner in Genshin Impact, and both leaks and datamining have yet to contradict this. If he ends up on the Standard Banner, he will become a 5-Star character that players won’t mind losing their 50:50 to. Much like Tighnari was for the Sumeru era, Lohen promises a competitive kit with a modern playstyle and a decent degree of freedom when it comes to building a team around him.

That being said, players should keep one thing in mind: losing a 50:50 after Version 6.6 may yield a Lohen, but his Signature Weapon will only return during the next Mondstadt Chronicled Banner in Genshin Impact. For those who want a more complete version of Lohen, it may be prudent to wish on the Weapon Banner instead, and either pick Lohen up through the Standard Banner or via the Anniversary Selector in September 2026. Version 6.6 is set to launch on May 20, 2026.
