According to a reliable source, Genshin Impact may be doing its next round of Hexerei buffs for other Mondstadt characters in Version 6.6, in addition to introducing Nicole and Lohen to the cast. With Version 6.5 on the horizon, Genshin Impact has slowly, yet steadily brought attention back to Mondstadt – the region where it all began. The Flagship Event for Version 6.4 served as a recap of the Anemo Nation and the Traveler’s humble beginnings through its windswept hills. Version 6.5 will take players to a new corner of Mondstadt, as Dornman Port will finally release as a map expansion in Genshin Impact.
However, it is Version 6.6 that’s expected to be the capstone for Genshin Impact‘s oldest region, as it will release two new Hexerei characters in Nicole and Lohen. The Hexerei system in Genshin Impact began in Version 6.2 with Durin – primarily as a way to buff older characters who have either failed to adjust to the modern meta or those who have aged poorly over the years. The first set of Hexerei buffs targeted Razor, Fischl, Sucrose, Mona, Venti, Klee, and Albedo. They were well-received by the Genshin Impact community, who were hoping HoYoverse would do the same for the rest of Mondstadt’s iconic cast.

While leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, Writer-X has had an impeccable track record since Columbina’s debut in Genshin Impact, and their latest claim is one that should make many Genshin Impact players happy. The leak states that Version 6.6 will arrive with the next set of Hexerei buffs – this time targeting Amber, Kaeya, Lisa, Jean, Noelle, Mika, and Eula. As fellow members of the Hexerei, both Nicole and Lohen should have synergy with these characters, potentially bringing the Hexerei cast to a total of eighteen. The exact details of the Hexerei buffs are unknown, but there are a few logical conclusions to make.
Varka in Genshin Impact launched with a rather lackluster set of support characters. Given those circumstances, it is widely expected that Nicole will debut in Version 6.6 as his ideal teammate, a 5-Star Pyro character with an ability kit that provides a shield and attack buffs that scale with the number of Hexerei members on a team. Conversely, Lohen is rumored to be a 5-Star Cryo hypercarry, as well as the next character to join the Standard Banner pool in Genshin Impact.
Taking these factors into consideration, a Jean and a Mika under the Hexerei feature would suddenly become powerful Genshin Impact support options for Varka’s other teams. Unfortunately, with Diluc and Bennett left out of the Hexerei buffs – as claimed by the leak, it may effectively lock Varka into favoring Nicole exclusively in his Pyro build. On the flip side, these buffs may give HoYoverse a chance to finally address Eula’s entire playstyle. Since Version 3.0, Physical damage has fallen by the wayside as Genshin Impact continues to favor Elemental Reactions when it comes to building teams or challenging the endgame. Bluntly put, Eula’s concept of being a Physical hypercarry is made for a version of the game that no longer exists.
If the leak turns out to be true, Version 6.6 would be the perfect opportunity for Mika and Eula in Genshin Impact to either kickstart a revival for Physical damage teams, or to gently nudge Eula in a direction where she can synergize with more modern characters. Given that Sandrone is rumored to be a Superconduct character, set to release in Version 6.7, Eula’s Hexerei buffs could feasibly go in either direction. Genshin Impact players can expect to see Version 6.6 on the beta servers on April 8, 2026.
