Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is adding Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii‘s Captain Goro Majima to the roster this week. More specifically, a playable version of the beloved Like a Dragon protagonist will arrive in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on Wednesday, April 29 alongside a new kart and new cosmetics.
Released in September 2025, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is the latest kart racing spinoff in SEGA’s 35-year-old flagship franchise. While the core gameplay mechanics of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds closely resemble those found in prior racing games like Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Team Sonic Racing, the game’s titular world-shifting gimmick set it apart from its predecessors and its competition when it launched last year. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds currently sits at a Top Critic Average of 83 on OpenCritic, with 94% of critics recommending the game. The crossover racer has used that launch momentum to propel itself into a strong post-launch cycle, releasing a plethora of both free and paid DLCs in the seven months since its debut.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gets Free Goro Majima DLC on April 29
On April 29, 2026 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will receive its free Goro Majima DLC. While Goro Majima made his debut in the very first Yakuza game and has appeared as either a protagonist or supporting character in most Yakuza entries, the version of the character that’s heading to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be inspired by his appearance in 2025’s Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
Along with the new playable character, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds‘ free Like a Dragon DLC will add a new kart also inspired by the 2025 spinoff. Taking the form of a mini pirate ship, Captain Goro Majima’s Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds vehicle is called the Goromaru. SEGA has also confirmed that some new special emotes and sounds will be coming in this free DLC.
A day after Captain Goro Majima’s induction into Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds‘ roster, the game is hosting a limited-time “Captain Majima Festival.” This in-game event will run from April 30 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET until May 3 at 4:59pm PT / 7:59pm ET. Though exact details of what this event will entail haven’t been given just yet, it’ll likely include a handful of Like a Dragon-themed cosmetic that players can unlock for free via gameplay, if it follows in the footsteps of past Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds DLC Festivals.

The release of this Like a Dragon DLC is also coinciding with a limited-time free trial of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. From April 30 at 10am PT / 1pm ET until May 4 at 10am PT / 1pm ET, Steam users can play Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds completely free of charge.
