Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are a special breed, overanalyzing every second of footage and desperately coming up with theories at every turn, both in regard to the game itself and its promotional material. The latest GTA 6 theory falls into the latter camp, and it’s a particularly strange one that’s all about oxygen.

To be clear, this oxygen-related theory has nothing to do with GTA 6 fans counting trees in the existing, a genuine pastime of some players that were desperate for something new. And though not every theory is unrealistic — there’s a good deal of evidence to support the idea that Jason is an undercover cop in the game’s highly anticipated story mode — a vast majority of Grand Theft Auto theories do seem to fall on the crazy side. Tracking oxygen changes around Rockstar’s office is about as wacky as it gets, putting moon debates and obsession over the number 27 to shame.

This Popular GTA 6 Fan Theory is Virtually Impossible

It’s crystal clear that one of the most popular fan theories in GTA 6 simply isn’t going to happen.

Why Exactly Are GTA 6 Fans Talking About Oxygen Levels?

The latest theory is all the work of one particular dedicated Grand Theft Auto 6 fan on Reddit named Then-Pomegranate-625. This same user had previously tried monitoring traffic in Rockstar’s area as a way to “prove” a trailer may be imminent. Obviously, this didn’t make that much sense since traffic changes could come from a vast majority of choices, with developers and Take-Two executives flocking to the studio being pretty low on the list. Yet while this was apparently a “step too far,” Then-Pomegranate-625 is apparently convinced that oxygen monitoring will provide more accurate data.

To monitor this oxygen consumption, the Redditor built a sensor using “leftover electronics and household materials,” with the rig also tracking temperature and humidity. Every 30 seconds, data from the area is sampled, and on June 5, Then-Pomegranate-625 noticed that levels dropped from 20.3% to 20.4%, an apparently noteworthy shift. The Redditor has used this information to suggest that there are more people working at Rockstar after the usual closing time, presumably to put extra work into polishing up GTA 6 trailer 3. As it turns out, the weekend data seemingly backs this up, as the level stays lower even over the weekend when people are normally at home.

Obviously, the GTA 6 fan base has poked fun at this “schizoposting,” as it’s a truly absurd way to narrow down a trailer release date. Fans have used an unhinged Squidward image to poke fun at the poster, as well as joking that they should just place a bug in the Rockstar office at this point. With Then-Pomegranate-625 even walking around the exterior of the Rockstar office and counting more cigarette buds than usual — yes, seriously — the user is convinced that a trailer is dropping the week of June 8. Whether this is just a ridiculous joke or a genuine approach to finding out when the trailer could release, commenters have already remarked that this would be the “craziest prediction” of all time if it somehow proves true.

For now, all fans can do is wait to hear more about GTA 6. While it’s no surprise that it skipped Summer Game Fest 2026, if Then-Pomegranate-625 is to be believed, Rockstar might just be showing off its upcoming game in a few days time.
