How To Make A Sap Catcher In Grounded

grounded sap catcher crafting recipe

A Sap Catcher is a handy storage and utility item to make in Grounded as it catches up to five pieces of Sap automatically for you, so you don’t need to search for it. To make a Sap Catcher in Grounded, you need the following resources from the yard:

  • One Acorn Top
  • Four Crude Rope
  • Two Weed Stem

Once you have gathered these resources, you need a Workbench to craft it. Once crafted, you need to place it upright against a natural source of wood, such as on the root of a tree or attached to the Great Oak Tree in the middle of the garden, as pictured below.

Building your base in Grounded around the Great Oak Tree at a height can give you lots of space to place multiple Sap Catchers and repeatedly farm lots of Sap. However, you can do this on any natural tree source, providing there is space. Just make sure you attach the Sap Catcher, so it hangs like a basket as pictured above, otherwise it won’t work.

How To Get Acorn Top

You can find Acorn Tops in Grounded by smashing fallen Acorns around the base of the Great Oak Tree with at least a Tier one Busting tool, like the Pebblet Hammer. You can get an Acorn Top plus pieces of Acorn Shell hits. In addition to making the Sap Catcher, Acorn Tops are also used to make the Smoothie Station and Spinning Wheel. You can also use Acorn Shell to craft early-game armor like the Acorn armor set.

How To Get Crude Rope

Crude Rope is handy for several crafting recipes in Grounded, so you’ll probably want plenty on hand most of the time. To get one piece of Crude Rope, you need at least three Plant Fiber to craft it in the Materials menu. Plant Fiber is readily available across the yard. It grows from the ground as tiny green sprouts, or you can chop down green grass to get wheel-shaped Plant Fibers.

How To Get Weed Stems

Lastly, when making a Sap Catcher, you can get Weed Stems by chopping down Dandelions, Bur Weeds, or Husky Weeds with a suitable chopping tool. Dandelions are the easiest to chop as you only need a Tier 1 Tool such as the Pebblet Axe. However, you’ll need a higher-level tool to chop down Husky Weeds, specifically, the Insect Axe. For Bur Weeds, you need a tool or weapon with Tier 3 chopping capabilities, such as the Termite Axe. That said, it is easier to stick with Dandelions, especially when first starting Grounded and making a Sap Catcher for the first time.
