The voice cast for Grand Theft Auto 6 has long been kept under wraps, but that secrecy has now been broken with the official confirmation of the first actor to play one of the game’s main characters. The NPC in question is none other than Brian Heder, one of the first supporting characters revealed in Grand Theft Auto 6‘s marketing.
Fans got a good look at Brian Heder in the second GTA 6 trailer, when he delivered the now-famous line, “Just go get me my checks.” According to Rockstar’s official character description, Brian is “a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys.” He is also speculated to play an important role in GTA 6‘s story, beyond what has been suggested in the trailers and the extended look.
GTA 6’s Brian Heder Played by an Emmy-Nominated Actor
Yeah, you’re going to see me in that.
As reported by AP News, GTA 6‘s Brian Heder has been confirmed to be played by award-winning actor Stephen Root, who is nominated for an Emmy for his role in Widow’s Bay. Many may know Root’s voice from the animated series King of the Hill, as he voices two of its characters, Bill Dauterive and Buck Strickland. The person who confirmed the news is none other than the actor himself, who told an AP News reporter asking about his rumored role in GTA 6, “Yeah, you’re going to see me in that.”
Stephen Root also said, “I think from the first rollout of GTA that they were doing maybe almost a year ago, they had my character in there, and there are too many people who knew me from King of the Hill and my voice.” He added, “I think that secret kind of got divulged then.” The reporter then asked Root about his experience working on Rockstar’s anticipated GTA 6, to which the actor replied that he is “so happy to be involved with it” and that “it’s an amazing thing to look at.”
Root being the voice of Brian in GTA 6 might not shock fans, as there were already many signs pointing to him. The same is true for both GTA 6 protagonists, Lucia and Jason. Many fans believe the voice actors behind these characters are Dylan Rourke and Manni L. Perez. Of the two, Perez’s presence in the game is all but confirmed at this point because of the undeniable similarities. In fact, the more shocking news now would be for GTA 6 to reveal that Lucia is played by another actress.
For now, Stephen Root is the only actor to confirm that he is in Rockstar’s game. But fans have already created a list of other possible actors based on subtle clues they have found online. For example, another speculated GTA 6 voice actress is Yollecotte Jean, who has mentioned playing several characters in an “Untitled NDA” Rockstar game on her resume. In the coming days, it will be interesting to see more familiar faces and voices, like Stephen Root, step up and confirm their roles in GTA 6 as the actual release date approaches.
