According to a new report, Grand Theft Auto 6 might have already reached a very impressive sales milestone. A month out from launch, Grand Theft Auto 6 may have already made over $600 million in revenue, based on pre-orders alone.

934 days after its first official reveal, pre-orders finally went live for Grand Theft Auto 6. Two versions of the highly-anticipated open world crime game are currently available for pre-order, one being the $80 Standard Edition, and the other being the $100 Ultimate Edition. Both versions of Grand Theft Auto 6 are only available digitally, and pre-ordering either one will grant players the ‘Vintage Vice City Pack’, which includes some exclusive cosmetics, an in-game garage, and a unique vehicle.

GTA 6 Has Reportedly Sold Over 6 Million Copies

The market analytics platform Sensor Tower has just updated its Grand Theft Auto 6 sales tracker. Sensor Tower claims that 6.45 million copies of GTA 6 have already been pre-ordered across PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, bringing in a combined total of $630 million in revenue. There’s still no official word from Rockstar Games or Take-Two regarding GTA 6‘s pre-order numbers, however, so fans should take this report with a pinch of salt.

Rearrange the movies into the correct US release order.

Sensor Tower’s latest report also offers insight into how GTA 6 is reportedly selling on each of its launch platforms. The most recent sales data shows that PlayStation 5 is taking the clear lead, having sold 4.8 million copies already. Xbox Series X/S, on the other hand, has sold 1.66 million copies. Percentage-wise, PlayStation currently has a 76% share of GTA 6 sales to Xbox’s 26%.

These numbers might sound a bit dramatic, but they are in line with the current ratio of PS5 to Xbox Series X/S owners, with PlayStation reportedly having around a 70% share of the console market. In response to a recent report from The Verge claiming that GTA 6 pre-order numbers were much higher on PlayStation than Xbox, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball claimed that the company is “very happy” with GTA 6 pre-orders on its platform, that it’s “breaking records for Xbox,” and most importantly, that the number of pre-orders is “matching” Xbox’s current share of the market.

If Sensor Tower’s figures are accurate, and Grand Theft Auto 6 has indeed sold over 6 million copies, it would already make GTA 6 one of the best-selling games of 2026. Currently, Resident Evil Requiem is reported to be the best-selling game of 2026, having sold over 8 million copies by the end of July. Crimson Desert is believed to be 2026’s second best-selling game so far, having sold 6 million by August. With more than 6 million copies already under its belt, it seems very likely that Grand Theft Auto 6 will take the crown in the weeks following its long-anticipated release.
