Hacker group ShinyHunters has released internal information about Grand Theft Auto 6 developer Rockstar Games. The info dump comes after Rockstar reportedly refused to pay a ransom to withhold information about the studio and its projects, with many assuming that information about Grand Theft Auto 6 would be the crown jewel. However, it’s as of yet unclear if ShinyHunters has obtained any data about GTA 6 itself, or if this information dump is the entirety of what the group has on Rockstar Games.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of — if not the — most hotly anticipated video games of all time, so any leaks about it ahead of its official launch could be catastrophic for Rockstar. However, the studio has been consistent in its position of not caving to demands from hackers in the past, and it appears that it has no interest in changing course here, either.

ShinyHunters Leaks Rockstar’s Internal Data
First and foremost, those looking for information about Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t find it here. Over on Twitter, people who have seen the data are reporting that it simply contains internal financial data about Rockstar Studios. While it’s interesting to know just how much money the studio is making, it’s not particularly shocking that Grand Theft Auto 5 Shark Cards are ostensibly a money printer.
The hacker group released a brief statement alongside the leak, stating that Rockstar’s Snowflake instances had been compromised thanks to Anodot, an AI-driven analytics service for businesses. ShinyHunters also refuted allegations that it was looking to sell the data to other bidders, as rumors had stated.
It’s unclear if ShinyHunters has any more damaging information about Rockstar Games. Given the specific vulnerability ShinyHunters cited, it’s not surprising it was able to access so much financial data. However, it’s possible that the group identified a second vulnerability or has more than it’s letting on. By leaking information about Rockstar’s financials, the group may be hoping to change Rockstar’s mind about not paying out a ransom.

Leaked information about GTA 6 would certainly be enough to make fans salivate, especially as Rockstar Games has been relatively tight-lipped about the game thus far. However, it’s unwise to download the ShinyHunters leak. There’s always the chance that the data could contain malware, so it’s not really worth the risk. That’s doubly true considering Rockstar itself doesn’t even believe that there’s anything materially worthwhile in there to worry about.
Rockstar has a long history of trouble with hackers. Back in 2022, a teenager used an Amazon Fire Stick to hack the studio, obtaining information about Grand Theft Auto 6 in the process. Ultimately, they received an indefinite hospital sentence, in which they’ll only be released when hospital staff deems that they’re no longer a danger. While things may not go that far should any members of ShinyHunters be caught, they’re likely to land in hot water with the law. This sort of hack is a felony and could carry a major prison sentence.
