A new leak claims to forecast the full and early access release dates of Halo: Campaign Evolved, which may be arriving a lot sooner than many players would expect. Fans have been waiting nearly half a year since the official announcement of Halo: Campaign Evolved, the full remake of the first-ever campaign mode in the Halo franchise, but they may be able to dive into it as soon as the middle of summer.

Halo Campaign Evolved was first revealed at the most recent Halo World Championships, which were held during the final full weekend of October 2025. Pushing competitive multiplayer off to the side in favor of letting players relive the glory of the original Halo: Combat Evolved‘s story-based mode from 2001, the upcoming remake has excited a large part of the fan base with a variety of modern-day upgrades. The special features in Halo: Campaign Evolved include high-definition 4K visuals, additional voiced dialogue and motion capture work, a bigger weapon selection, and three brand-new missions.

The Halo franchise was once at the top of the FPS genre, but it’s struggled to find its footing, and tough decisions need to be made moving forward.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Leaked Release Dates

  • Early Access Release Date: July 23, 2026
  • Official Release Date: July 28, 2026

While there has yet to be an official release date announced for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the generally reliable Halo leaker grunt.api has issued a new claim stating that the full game will be available starting on July 28, with early access being released on July 23. This information one the near future of the Halo franchise was conveyed cryptically through a post on Twitter, with readers forced to calculate mathematical functions reading “EA: (18 × 7 × (MMXX + VI) mod 31) + 1” and “OR: (8 × 7 × (MMXX + VI) mod 31) + 1,” which many have collectively interpreted to arrive at those two July dates.

While the information in this post has yet to be confirmed by Xbox Game Studios or Halo Studios, it does follow a string of rumors that claim the game’s official launch may not be far off at all. Less than a week prior to grunt.api’s announcement, fellow Halo insider RebsGaming reported that Halo: Campaign Evolved was practically content complete. Speaking more specifically, this report states that in the game’s present build, the entire campaign is already fully playable. This includes the three special prequel levels that were not included in Halo: Combat Evolved, which will focus on Master Chief and Avery Johnson, and are expected to provide players with a perspective on the early days of tensions with the Covenant.

The rumored July release date is somewhat earlier than what some fans had been anticipating, and it has attracted some negativity in the form of doubt over how polished the game will be at launch. Although Halo Studios, the rebranded name of the former 343 Industries, is currently credited as the game’s developer, there are also reports claiming that multiple development teams are working on Halo: Campaign Evolved, with Abstraction Games having been called on to support Halo Studios. Abstraction has also been credited with co-development of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, having also performed work on Baldur’s Gate 3, Dune: Awakening, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, and many more games.

The new release date rumor does poke some holes into another fan theory. Some believe that Xbox’s upcoming partnership project with soft drink Fanta, which will see imagery from many popular Microsoft games featured on bottles and cans, indicates that a shadow-drop for Halo: Campaign Evolved is in the works, allowing players to take advantage of QR codes on Fanta products to unlock in-game rewards as soon as the game launches. The most commonly believed window for this to happen, among those who subscribe to the shadow-drop theory, is that it would take place immediately following an Xbox Games Showcase dated for June. However, if the new information stating that a five-day early access period will be introduced before the game’s full launch is true, it would ruin any surprise that a shadow-drop could offer.
