How to Drop Samples in Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 Super Uranium Sample

In Helldivers 2, samples are essential for upgrading your ship, which in turn upgrades the stratagems and improves your combat. As important as they are, they can also bring some sort of discomfort if they happen to die while carrying them.

When your character dies in Helldivers 2, they automatically drop any samples they were carrying at the location of their death. If you want to keep the samples for later use, you’ll have to go back to where you died to pick them up. But that’s not always easy. To ensure you don’t lose them, it’s better to drop the samples yourself before you die.

Dropping samples isn’t just about saving them for yourself. You can also share them with teammates who need them for ship upgrades or give one to a teammate who previously dropped theirs.

If you’re playing on a PC, you can drop the samples by holding the ‘X’ key. On PlayStation controllers, hold down on the D-Pad to perform this action.

To keep all your collected samples safe, it would be a good idea to drop them at the Extraction Point. If that’s not possible, consider releasing them at a central point that’s easy to access. This will make it easier for you and your teammates to collect them later. For your convenience, you can mark the spot where you left them. However, it’s important to note that these marks disappear after a while.
