Helldivers 2‘s Machinery of Oppression 6.2.5 update is officially out now and is free to download on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This latest Helldivers 2 update brings another suite of bug fixes to the live-service Sci-Fi shooter and adds support for some major gaming industry upscalers.
Over the last 27 months, Helldivers 2 has received over 100 updates. These updates have included major content drops, such as the Omens of Tyranny update in December 2024 which added the Illuminate faction, as well as a plethora of smaller patches that focus solely on improving the game’s performance and squashing any bugs, and a whole load of updates that fall in between the two. This latest Helldivers 2 update falls more towards the latter end of the scale, not adding any major new content to the game but instead improving its performance, especially for those on PC.

A recently released Western shooter has attracted fans of both Helldivers 2 and Deep Rock Galactic, perfectly blending the co-op chaos of both games.
Helldivers 2 Gets Its Machinery of Oppression 6.2.5 Update
Helldivers 2‘s Machinery of Oppression 6.2.5 update has finally landed. Developer Arrowhead communicated to its player-base via a Steam News post that this update was originally planned for a Wednesday, May 27 release, but that the patch had to be delayed as the developer was still waiting on a fix from its platform partners. The update finally arrived on May 29, which is only two days after its intended launch.

Helldivers 2‘s latest update can be split into two key areas. The first key area is this update’s addition of upscaler support. With help from the Dutch video game developer Nixxes Software, Arrowhead has been able to add support for some major gaming upscalers with this most recent Helldivers 2 update. FSR 3.1.5, DLSS 4.5, and XeSS 3.0 are all now supported by Helldivers 2. Additionally, for those with NVIDIA GPUs, Helldivers 2 now supports NVIDIA Reflex, and those running AMD GPUs now have access to AMD’s Anti-Lag 2. DRS support has also been added on PC. Variable Rate Shading (VRS) has also been added to Helldivers 2 for supported devices, which can help improve performance by reducing shading rates in some on-screen areas, thus lowering the workload for the GPU.
The second key area of this latest Helldivers 2 update is bug fixes. Like most Helldivers 2 updates before it, this most recent patch brings another handful of fixes for an assortment of technical issues currently plaguing the Sci-Fi shooter. For instance, an issue where Helldivers were unable to manually climb small objects without auto-climb enabled has been fixed. Multiple rendering issues have also been fixed, and performance and image quality have been reportedly improved across all platforms. Additional resolution options are also now available in the display settings for PC monitors. This update has also improved VRAM management on PC.
