Arrowhead Game Studios released Update 6.1.2 for Helldivers 2, but unlike previous patches, this one is a bit unique in what it adds to the game and who can access it. Helldivers 2 continues to push on, keeping players engaged through new updates and content, such as the ever-growing list of available Warbonds. After a busy March, fans continue to wait for the next big content drop, though today’s update may leave some fans feeling a bit disappointed with what it offers.

March 2026 was one of the busier months Helldivers 2 has seen, as Arrowhead managed to release a number of highly anticipated changes to the game. PC players finally saw the game’s file size trimmed down from its hefty “legacy” version, while a World War I-inspired Warbond also launched. As part of that update, Arrowhead also provided a Helldivers 2 content roadmap for the first half of 2026 revealing new biomes, missions, Warbonds, and tons more. The latest update for Helldivers 2 probably isn’t what most players expected based on that roadmap.

Helldivers 2 Dev Accepts $1,000 Challenge to Beat Oshaune on Hardest Difficulty

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani accepts a Helldivers 2 fan’s daunting challenge amid questions about the game’s balance and difficulty.

Unlike previous Helldivers 2 updates, the newest patch is relatively small in comparison. In a new blog posted by Community Manager Katherine Baskin, the biggest piece of this update is Low Energy Mode. The feature can be enabled from the PS5’s settings under Power Management, and when enabled, it reduces the console’s power consumption during idle and low-intensity moments. Fan activity is slightly lowered and the console’s power draw is also reduced, though the good news is that Arrowhead confirmed that using this feature won’t have any impact on core gameplay performance or online functionality.

The catch here is that Low Energy Mode is only for PS5 players currently. However, despite the big new feature being exclusive to Sony’s console, Helldivers 2 players on PC and Xbox will still have to download an update as well. For Xbox players, this update does apply a couple of fixes for bugs relating to party invites not working, as well as desyncing and loading issues. Interestingly enough, it doesn’t appear that Update 6.1.2 has anything for PC players, with many speculating that the necessary update is strictly to update the game’s version to be in sync with the other platforms for Helldivers 2 crossplay feature.

Unfortunately for Arrowhead, fan reaction to this update seems to be pretty underwhelming, as players highlight other issues with Helldivers 2 that remain unresolved for now. There are those who don’t really know when they’d use a feature like this either, with some speculating that perhaps the setting is being added ultimately for Sony’s rumored handheld. Others continue to wait for a new Warbond, as Helldivers 2 released Entrenched Division almost a month ago at this point.

While this may not be the update that most fans were looking for, it’s likely that they won’t have to wait long for new content to arrive. Earlier this year, Arrowhead seemingly released new Warbonds in quick succession for Helldivers 2 players, launching 1 per month. Redacted Regiment kicked off the new year in January, followed by Siege Breakers in February, and then Entrenched Division in March. As of right now, nothing has been revealed for April, though at the time of publish, there’s still half the month left, so plenty of time for Arrowhead to fill the gap.

Helldivers 2 Update 6.1.2 Patch Notes

Helldivers 2 — PS5 Low Energy Mode Joins the Fight!

Attention Helldivers,

We are proud to be offering a new Low Energy Mode for the PS5 version of Helldivers 2, available now in the settings menu.

When enabled, Low Energy Mode reduces your console’s power consumption during play by limiting background processes and lowering system resource usage during idle and low-intensity moments.

This is ideal for players who run longer sessions or are mindful of their energy usage. It’s also an integral part of the Sony Interactive Entertainment ‘Road to Zero’ environmental plan.

What should Helldivers on PS5 expect:

  • Reduced power draw during gameplay and idle states
  • Slightly lower fan activity and system temperatures
  • No impact on core gameplay performance or online functionality

You can toggle Low Energy Mode on or off at any time under:

Settings → Display & Performance → Power Management.

As always, we appreciate your continued support and feedback. If you notice any unexpected behavior after enabling this feature, please report it through our Zendesk Support tool or on our official Discord.

See you on the battlefield.

For Super Earth.

For Managed Democracy.

For a lower electricity bill!
