Nintendo hosted yet another Indie World showcase where Hollow Knight: Silksong was nowhere to be seen. Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced in 2019, and fans have been anxious to play the game ever since. Unfortunately, the wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been an incredibly long one, with little in the way of any substantial updates on the game or its progress since its initial announcement.

In the time since Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced, Team Cherry has confirmed that it will be coming to PlayStation and Xbox alongside its previously-announced Switch version, but have otherwise stopped short of providing many other details. Fans have been starved of information in the five years since Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced, but many held out hope that the game would finally make an appearance at the latest Nintendo Indie World showcase.

Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Development Timeline Explained

Hollow Knight: Silksong’s development has been an ongoing saga, and as Team Cherry continues to work on the project, its future remains a mystery.

The announcement of the latest Nintendo Indie World showcase came at a time that really made it seem like Hollow Knight: Silksong could be featured at the event. It was announced shortly after Hollow Knight: Silksong received age ratings in multiple countries, a sign that the game is nearing the end of its development and its release date may be nigh. Sadly for Hollow Knight fans that tuned in to the Indie World showcase, Silksong did not make an appearance, and at this point, its continued absence may be having a negative impact on other indie games.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Was Not at the April 2024 Indie World Showcase

The live chat for the Nintendo Indie World showcase was flooded with people wanting to see Hollow Knight: Silksong. The Hollow Knight: Silksong ratings gave fans hope that the game would indeed be shown, potentially as the “one more thing” announcement at the end of the showcase. The Indie World showcase did have such an announcement, but it was for SteamWorld Heist 2, not Silksong. SteamWorld Heist 2 is a game that may have otherwise generated some excitement, but it’s unfortunately being overshadowed by Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Even though Hollow Knight: Silksong was not at the Nintendo Indie World showcase, there is still some hope that the game could be shown in the near future. The fact that the game has started getting its ratings from the world’s various ratings boards definitely points in the direction of a release date happening at some point in the near future, so perhaps the game will resurface at other upcoming gaming events like Summer Game Fest or the Xbox June Showcase. Time will tell, but for now, the wait continues for Hollow Knight fans.
