- Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC offers new content, including quests and returning Pokemon for players to enjoy.
- The DLC introduces the concept of Blueberry Quests, which provide players with currency to be used in the League Club Room. Here, players can see Larry interact with Geeta, who sets him up as Paldea’s representative in a competition in a different region.
- The inclusion of Larry, a beloved character from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, in future games, such as Pokemon Gen 10, would be highly appreciated by fans.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s Indigo Disk DLC offers plenty of content for players to chew on while they explore the Terarium and the various ongoing events for Gen 9 games ahead of Pokemon Day when new games may be announced. Much like the Crown Tundra DLC from Gen 8, The Indigo Disk has a plethora of returning Pokemon that gamers can catch as well as multiple Legendaries coming back, albeit they are currently shiny-locked. One of the most intensive grinds in the DLC is The Indigo Disk’s BBQs, or Blueberry Quests, which are tasks bestowed upon players that grant a small amount of BP, a currency to be used in the League Club Room. Here, players can make past starters return in the Terarium or invite trainers from Paldea over to chat, trade, and battle – and one of them may even come back in Gen 10 or beyond.
It’s not uncommon for Pokemon trainers from a given game or region to show up in other installments of the series for plot reasons or just as a fun easter egg. One of the most prominent examples is Cynthia’s appearance in Pokemon Gen 5, suddenly challenging players to a tough battle. While there are several iconic characters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, none of them was as liked by fans as Larry.
Pokemon Gen 10 Has The Perfect Blueprint For The First-Ever Rock/Ghost Pokemon
Pokemon Gen 10 should make up for one of Scarlet and Violet’s shortcomings and break new ground with a unique Rock/Ghost Pokemon.
Why Pokemon Gen 10 And Other Games Could Feature Scarlet and Violet’s Larry
Why Larry Became Gen 9’s Most Popular Trainer
Larry is the perfect Pokemon character because on the surface he seems pretty much ordinary, which is part of his allure once he’s revealed as a Normal-type trainer. However, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s Larry became an internet sensation once players realized he was burned out from his job and hardly carried on with life due to also being one of the Elite Four in Paldea, essentially working two jobs and having little time for himself. The serious nature of his lines and appearance doubles down on this concept, making him a beloved character very quickly.
How The Indigo Disk Sets The Stage For Larry to Return
This alone would be enough of a reason for Larry to come back in Pokemon Gen 10 games or the heavily-rumored Pokemon Johto and Unova games that may be coming out next, however The Indigo Disk takes things to the next level. When inviting Larry over while Geeta is in the League Club Room (or vice versa), players can get exclusive dialogue between the two, with Geeta stating that she decided to send a Paldean representative to a competition in a different region, and that’s Larry.
It’s unclear what sort of competition this would be, but seeing how Larry is both a Normal-type Gym Leader and a Flying-type Elite Four member, he is most likely one of the best trainers in the region, and it would make sense to send him over most others. This may be yet another joke regarding Larry being burned out, as he replies by saying he has a “lovely boss,” most likely sarcastically. And yet, seeing how popular Larry is and how happy fans would be to see him in another game, it could very well be a hint toward something big to come.
Pokemon Gen 10 games make the most sense as to where Larry could pop up because there is a chance the next mainline games will be released very close to the 30th anniversary of the series, and there could be a celebration of each game before them in the form of a tournament where every region has its own “champion.” Featuring Larry as a representative of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s Paldea would be a great way to celebrate Gen 9’s true spirit – pursuing novelty by breaking multiple series-long traditions, including Larry being the first Gym Leader to also be an Elite Four member in the same game.
