Recent leaks point to the Nintendo Switch 2 having an absolutely massive summer 2026, which should ensure Nintendo’s latest home console/handheld hybrid is celebrating its anniversary in style. The Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t even a year old yet, but it’s already built up an impressive library of exclusive games.

At launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 saw the release of Mario Kart World, and a little over a month later, the critically-acclaimed, GOTY nominee Donkey Kong Bananza hit the scene. More Switch 2 exclusives released consistently in the months after DK Bananza, with games like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Kirby Air Riders launching to mostly positive reviews. In 2026, Switch 2 owners have been treated to games like Mario Tennis Fever and the blockbuster hit Pokemon Pokopia, which stands tall as the highest-rated Pokemon game ever and one of the Switch 2’s best-sellers.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is About to Go On a Massive Hot Streak

The hot streak that the Nintendo Switch 2 is experiencing right now doesn’t seem to have an end date in sight, especially if recent leaks are true.

At the time of this writing, the only upcoming Switch 2 exclusive game with a solid release date is Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which is aiming for release on May 21. However, recent leaks that were corroborated by other sources have suggested that Nintendo is gearing up for a massive summer 2026 for the Switch 2, which will potentially include the likes of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, a new Nintendo Switch Sports release of some description, a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Pikmin 4, Splatoon Raiders, and, perhaps most unexpected of all, a new, classic-style Star Fox game.

All Switch 2 Games Rumored for Summer 2026

  • Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
  • New Nintendo Switch Sports Game
  • Pikmin 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
  • Splatoon Raiders
  • Star Fox

Nintendo Switch 2 owners should take the leaks with a massive grain of salt, but there is enough room in the summer months for these games to drop. Nintendo generally likes to stick to a cadence of one major new release per month, so it’s entirely possible we will see Star Fox, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and Splatoon Raiders spread out from late June to mid-September, with things like Nintendo Switch Sports (depending on if it’s a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition or if it’s a brand new game) and Pikmin 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition sprinkled in.

Rhythm Heaven Groove is also rumored to be releasing this summer, but while it will be playable on Switch 2 through backward compatibility, no native release on Nintendo’s latest console has been announced at the time of this writing.

There have been other reports saying that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave may actually be delayed to 2027, so fans should keep that in mind as well. The same leaks have said that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is getting a Switch 2 remake this holiday season, and so it will be very interesting to see if the rumors are true or not.

Chances are that Nintendo will host a Nintendo Direct presentation this June where it will pull the curtain back on its release plans for summer 2026 and beyond. If the leaks are accurate, the June 2026 Nintendo Direct should include reveals for all these rumored projects, but time will tell. In the meantime, Nintendo fans can mark their calendars for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book while they wait for more info on future Switch 2 games.
