Grand Theft Auto 6 is now officially in its final stretch of development where continued radio silence from Rockstar can still be viewed as somewhat normal, based on historical precedent. In other words, if its marketing doesn’t pick up soon, that may signal that yet another GTA 6 delay is on the cards.

Rockstar’s first GTA 6 trailer, released in December 2023, listed a 2025 release window for the much-anticipated title. Half a year later, the company pushed that target to May 26, 2026. In November 2025, Rockstar announced a second delay, rescheduling the game for November 19, 2026. Not much of substance has been officially said about GTA 6 since then.

GTA 6 Boss Comments on the Game’s Price

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reveals how the company is approaching Grand Theft Auto 6’s price as the long-awaited release date draws nearer.

The Weeks Ahead Should Reveal Whether GTA 6 Is Truly Releasing This November

As of this writing on May 2, 201 days remain until the game’s official release date. The second GTA 6 trailer will also turn one year old in four days. Pre-orders have yet to begin, and a gameplay reveal is still pending as well. With fewer than seven months to go, the coming weeks should offer clearer signs of whether GTA 6 remains on course to reach digital and physical storefronts this November, or whether a third delay is on the cards. As such, now would be the time to start worrying about its release date.

Nov 19, 2026

As of May 2, 2026, there are 201 days remaining until GTA 6’s latest release date, and Take-Two has an earnings report scheduled for May 21.

Rockstar’s last few AAA titles offer possible guidance on when to expect the GTA 6 marketing cycle to start ramping up again. Red Dead Redemption 2 received its third trailer 177 days, or just under six months, before launch, while GTA 4 and GTA 5 received comparable trailers 145 and 140 days before release, respectively. Based on that pattern, the third GTA 6 trailer would be expected to drop sometime between May 26 and July 3, 2026.

The good news for fans is that Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said in late April 2026 that the GTA 6 marketing cycle would ramp up soon. The gaming giant’s next quarterly financial report is scheduled for May 21, and historical precedent suggests major GTA 6-related announcements are unlikely to be made during the event. However, one potentially significant pattern is that GTA 4, GTA 5, and RDR2‘s third trailers all premiered approximately two weeks before Take-Two’s next earnings report. If that pattern holds, the third GTA 6 trailer could arrive in the first half of May 2026.

Needless to say, these two historical comparisons lead to somewhat different conclusions about the possible premiere window for the next GTA 6 trailer. Rockstar’s recent release-date patterns point to a late May-to-early July 2026 window, while the Take-Two earnings-report pattern suggests the first half of May may also be in play. Still, both readings support the broader idea that GTA 6 marketing could finally begin spinning up in May 2026, in line with Zelnick’s latest comments on the matter. Conversely, if GTA 6 is still at risk of slipping out of 2026, the weeks ahead are also when Rockstar would most likely make that clear.
