A John Wick action game is in the works at Saber Interactive. Revealed during Sony’s February State of Play presentation, the game, known only as Untitled John Wick Game, looks like an attempt to do for John Wick what Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has done for our favorite Nazi-punching grave robber.

The reveal trailer starts with two guys in a tailor shop which briefly gave me hope that some enlightened studio somewhere decided to make an action game out of the movie The Outfit. Though that incredibly specific dream has been thwarted, I don’t mind what’s taken its place. The John Wick universe is rife for video game adaptation and I’m surprised we didn’t get something like this sooner. There was John Wick Hex, a tactical RPG that was great in its own right, but movie about a one-man wrecking crew like Mr. Wick begs for the Hitman treatment and it looks like that’s what Saber is going for. The trailer is appropriately gruesome featuring several shots of John just stabbing stabbing a guy in the face and another moment where he makes use of the tools around him and beats a guy with a cast iron pan. According to the game’s description, the story takes place years before Wick’s “Impossible Task” mission that he must complete in order to leave the assassin’s life for good. The description also promises new looks into the game’s goofy-ass lore which will be a real treat considering that’s some of the best stuff of the franchise.

John Wick‘s creators have been trying to squeeze a bit more out of the franchise. Ballerina, the spinoff movie starring Ana de Armas released last year to decent reviews and in 2023 Peacock produced The Continental, a miniseries centered on the movie’s fancy assassin hotel. There’s also a fifth John Wick movie in the works with Keanu Reeves set to reprise the titular role. With him also starring in this game, Keanu is probably going to be very busy with John Wick for the foreseeable future.
