The summer months may be the slowest when it comes to new video game releases, but that doesn’t mean there still isn’t plenty on the way for the PlayStation 5 in the very near future. The PlayStation 5 is one of the most popular video game platforms in the world, and so it make sense that nearly all major games are released on it.
The PS5 gets its own exclusive games, plus nearly all big multi-platform, third-party releases. This ensures that there are constantly new games released on the PS5, so gamers on the platform always have something new to play. PS5 gamers looking for something new to play in July should take note of the games releasing this month, with July 9 set to be a particularly busy day for the console.
PS5 Gets New System Update for July 2025
PlayStation 5 owners have a new system update to download, as Sony releases another small firmware patch for its flagship console on July 15, 2025.
New PS5 Games Coming on July 9
- Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
- Backyard Baseball
- EA Sports College Football 27
- Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok
- Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avengers iX 1+2 Dual Collection
On July 9, PS5 gamers will be able to check out Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Backyard Baseball, EA Sports College Football 27, Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok, and Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avengers iX 1+2 Dual Collection. July 9 is easily going to be the busiest day in July for PS5 gamers looking for a new game to play, as two of the month’s biggest releases are dropping on that day.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, considered to be one of the best entries in Ubisoft’s long-running franchise. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced looks to bring AC4‘s open world pirate experience to modern platforms with improved graphics and some new content. There’s a great deal of hype for Black Flag Resynced among nostalgic gamers, and its release alone should ensure that July 9 is a busy day for the PS5.
EA Sports College Football 27, meanwhile, is also doing a lot of work to make July 9 one to watch for PS5 gamers. After a decade of no new game releases, EA revived its college football franchise with the well-reviewed EA Sports College Football 25. That game was followed up by EA Sports College Football 26 the next year, and now it’s EA Sports College Football 27‘s turn. While it likely won’t feel nearly as fresh as 25 or even 26, College Football 27 should prove to be yet another solid iteration of the franchise. And if it’s anything like the previous games in the series, chances are it will be one of the best-selling new video game releases of the year by the time it’s all said and done.
While July 9 may be the busiest day of the month for PS5 gamers, there are other major releases coming later. Palworld‘s 1.0 release is scheduled for just one day later, July 10, while Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is coming on July 23. Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming to PS5 on July 28, marking the first time ever that a Halo game has released for a PlayStation console. Campaign Evolved is a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, and it should be a perfect jumping-on point for PS5 gamers, even though it’s missing its iconic multiplayer mode.
