Kick staff’s recent comments on the potential ban of former Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect from joining the platform have sparked renewed interest in the controversial figure’s future in streaming. For four years, the reason behind Dr Disrespect’s permanent ban from Twitch in 2020 remained a mystery, until it was finally revealed to the public just days ago, sparking significant discussion within the streaming community.

On June 21, a former Twitch staffer claimed on social media that Dr Disrespect was banned because he “got caught sexting a minor.” Dr Disrespect initially denied any wrongdoing in a promptly issued response but later admitted that his Twitch ban was due to him messaging “an individual minor” in inappropriate ways. Since this revelation, the streamer has faced significant criticism from fellow streamers like TimTheTatman and Nickmercs, who have expressed their disappointment in Dr Disrespect’s behavior.

Tfue Calls on Twitch to Release Dr Disrespect Messages

Popular streamer Tfue weighs in on the Dr Disrespect controversy by demanding Twitch release the messages that were sent to a minor.

Kick, a streaming platform introduced in late 2022 to rival Twitch, has signed several renowned streamers, including Adin Ross, xQc, Amouranth, and many others. Kick has also made multiple attempts to sign Dr Disrespect, who asked for $50 million to join the platform. After the revelation of the Twitch scandal, many are wondering if Dr Disrespect will be joining Kick as he currently faces difficulties, and it remains to be seen how his current platform, YouTube, will react. Commenting on these questions, Kick’s Head of Strategic Partnerships, Andrew Santamaria, expressed doubts about Dr Disrespect joining Kick. He mentioned that there are still many unresolved issues regarding Dr Disrespect’s situation and that it’s too early to consider such a move.

Will Dr Disrespect Join Kick in the Future?

Santamaria also suggested that Dr Disrespect might take “some time off to decompress,” making a comeback unlikely in the near future. While only time will tell when Dr Disrespect will return to the streaming scene, his troubles seem to be increasing rapidly since this scandal. Midnight Society has officially cut all ties with the content creator, and the San Francisco 49ers have also decided to sever its association with him. Additionally, it is reported that NBA 2K24 is set to remove its Dr Disrespect content in the coming days.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that in April, Dr Disrespect spoke about the impact of his Twitch ban, describing it as a difficult period. He explained that the ban’s consequences went beyond just losing his platform audience, leading to missed opportunities and financial losses from deals and sponsorships with major brands like Nike and Oakley.
