Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3] on PS5 will only have three Platinum trophies for players to obtain, which is half the amount from the PS4 version of the games included in the upcoming compilation. Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3] launches on October 8 and includes almost every entry in the Kingdom Hearts franchise to date, save for the musical spin-off Melody of Memory.
Since the Kingdom Hearts franchise’s debut in 2002, the collaborative effort between Disney and Square Enix has been a mainstay of the gaming industry. One major facet behind the series’ longstanding appeal is its approachability toward newcomers looking to get into Japanese action-RPGs for the first time. Between cameo appearances from beloved Disney characters and Final Fantasy franchise staples, the charm that Kingdom Hearts has provided to audiences for over two decades is showing no signs of slowing down.
Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3] Only Has Three Platinum Trophies
Although Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3] will include six full-length adventures for players to go through, the compilation will have a few fewer trophies to chase. According to the trophy list for Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3], only three Platinum trophies can be obtained from the entire collection on PS5, down from six in the equivalent PS4 versions of each game. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts 3 + Re Mind (DLC) contain just one Platinum trophy apiece on PS5, with HD 1.5+2.5 Remix seeing the most consolidation. In short, PS5 players only need to obtain all trophies from Kingdom Hearts Final Mix to obtain the Platinum Trophy for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 Remix, meaning achievements such as clearing the game on Proud Mode and unlocking the secret ending are required.

In short, Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3] on PS5 treats Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories as DLC packs rather than full-fledged entries with individual Platinum trophies. Ergo, any collectible feats from Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix will not count towards a Platinum trophy. However, the PS5 versions of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts 3 + Re Mind (DLC) each have one Platinum trophy apiece to obtain, similar to previous ports of each title.
The Platinum trophy count is not the only controversy that has surrounded Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3]. Following the compilation’s reveal, Square Enix was accused of using generative AI for some of the game’s key artwork, as fans pointed out some inconsistencies with the designs of Sora and Donald Duck in particular. Square Enix denied the accusations and attributed the mistakes to human error. The developer quietly corrected the artwork in all promotional materials for Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3].
Kingdom Hearts will observe its 25th anniversary in 2027, with the upcoming release of Kingdom Hearts 4 in the latter part of the year serving as a bookend to the upcoming festivities. It is currently unknown when Square Enix will divulge more information about the next Kingdom Hearts game.
