The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has had a busy few weeks, with CD Projekt Red bringing its remastered version to players on September 29, and there’s even more Witcher content coming in 2007 aside from the Songs of the Past expansion. The remastered and updated RPG gives Geralt of Rivia’s adventure another round of improvements, including enhanced visuals, revamped combat, new animation work, and changes to its skill system.
CD Projekt Red has continued updating The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered since launch, addressing bugs and making further adjustments across PC and consoles. Patch 5.01 arrived earlier this month with gameplay fixes, improved graphics options on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and several other changes, followed by a PS5 stability hotfix on October 13. The updates are part of a larger stretch for the franchise, with the aforementioned Witcher 3 expansion also planned for 2027 and The Witcher 4 targeting a 2028 release.
CDPR and Go On Board Target Summer 2027 for The Witcher Legacy
Now, another project in the franchise has a more specific release window. The Witcher: Legacy, the upcoming story-driven board game developed by Go On Board in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, is officially targeting Summer 2027. The tabletop game was originally announced in 2025 and will let players take on the role of surviving Witchers from the School of the Wolf. While it shares the franchise’s world and lore with Geralt’s video game adventures, The Witcher: Legacy is a separate board game rather than a new video game.

The Witcher: Legacy supports solo play or cooperative sessions with up to four players, with a campaign built around a branching narrative. Set in the kingdom of Kaedwen, the story follows the aftermath of a brutal attack on The Witcher‘s School of the Wolf. Players must investigate who was responsible, explore the surrounding lands, battle monsters, develop their skills, and manage limited resources as they uncover a conspiracy threatening the Witchers’ existence. Decisions carry over between sessions, meaning choices made earlier in the campaign can shape what happens later.
The game also stands apart from the adventures most fans associate with Geralt. The Witcher: Legacy takes place long before his time, exploring a period in the franchise’s history centered on the School of the Wolf and its surviving members. Its campaign structure is designed to give players a longer-running story, with consequences that persist between sessions instead of resetting after every playthrough. The project’s crowdfunding campaign has also attracted substantial interest, showing that the series’ appeal extends beyond The Witcher video games.
With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered now available and Songs of the Past planned for 2027, fans have more than one reason to keep an eye on the franchise over the next year. The Witcher: Legacy adds another kind of adventure to that lineup, while The Witcher 4 remains on the horizon for 2028. Summer 2027 is still some time away, but the release window gives tabletop fans a clearer idea of when they can begin their next journey through the world of The Witcher.
