A group of LEGO fans have come together to create a wildly impressive build of the USS Iowa using an estimated 100,000 pieces. After many months of building, the LEGO version of the ship is now complete, and it’s pretty mind blowing.

When it comes to custom fan-made LEGO builds, there are plenty of impressive creations to find on the internet. From historical monuments to huge tributes to pop culture franchises, LEGO fans can think of some truly creative ways to bring ideas to life that aren’t pre-made kits. They are all impressive in their own ways, but the amount of time and effort put into bringing this version of the USS Iowa to life is worth some serious applause.

LEGO Fan Builds Impressive Bowser MOC from Scratch

A LEGO fan is sharing their incredible self-made build of iconic Super Mario antagonist Bowser, built without using any guides.

This Fan-Made LEGO Build of the USS Iowa Has to Be Seen to Be Believed

The build was shared to the LEGO subreddit by Macurban2663, one of the builders responsible for creating the USS Iowa replica. According to them, building the ship required teamwork from a handful of fellow LEGO fans over the course of about eight months. Building something with nearly 100,000 pieces is wild enough, but that’s merely the tip of the iceberg. This USS Iowa build weighs a whopping 331.5 pounds and is 19.2 feet long. The finished product makes some of the largest LEGO sets of the year look like child’s play.

What’s even more interesting is that the team that built such a cool LEGO ship is hoping to bring it to this year’s BrickCon in Bellevue, Washington. One of the biggest questions is how these fans plan on hauling such a massive build. Transporting the fan-made USS Iowa is a sweat-inducing thought, but it would definitely be right at home at an event like BrickCon. The ship creation isn’t the only idea that these builders have planned, either. According to Macurban2663, there are more large-scale builds that they hope to work on in the near future.

Over the years, fans have been able to think of creations that are almost even better than official LEGO products, like a fan-made LEGO Caterpie build that gained a lot of attention on Reddit. LEGO’s Icons series often features major structures and vehicles from important historical moments, but the fans behind the USS Iowa creation took it upon themselves to make one of the most impressive history-focused builds of the past few years. Naturally, Macurban2663’s post has been met with plenty of praise from fellow LEGO lovers. At the time of writing this article, the Reddit post has gathered 24,000 upvotes.

What these fans were able to do with nearly 100,000 pieces is both amazing and inspiring. It’s a great example of what can get accomplished when people join together to create something special. LEGO creations made by fans demonstrate that a lot of incredible builds can be brought to life outside the confines of pre-made sets. It’s going to be fascinating to see if Macurban2663 and their fellow builders will be able to haul the USS Iowa to BrickCon. After that, what this team has planned next is going to be even more intriguing.
