LEGO‘s list of sets retiring at the end of 2026 includes an assortment of 34 different video game-themed sets, including popular franchises like Animal Crossing, Fortnite, and Minecraft. The LEGO lineup is expected to largely affect lower-priced play sets, rather than high-dollar collector kits.
The beloved toy brick brand has featured a wide array of crossovers with some of the biggest pop culture brands in the world. LEGO has collaborated with everything from popular movie series like Star Wars and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial to brands like Adidas and IKEA. The long list of crossover toys has also often included LEGO sets based on popular video games, including the recently revealed Legend of Zelda Link and Epona LEGO set to celebrate the beloved Nintendo franchise’s 40th anniversary. Now, a litany of LEGO sets from some of gaming’s most iconic brands are set to cycle out at the end of 2026.

LEGO Exclusive Sets
Among the multitude of LEGO sets rotating out at the end of 2026, 34 different video game kits will be retired by the toy brand. LEGO’s collaboration with Minecraft is easily the biggest hit of all the video game franchises affected, losing 14 different sets including The Nether Lava Battle, The Illager Desert Patrol, and The Baby Pig House. LEGO is dropping six different Sonic the Hedgehog sets from its product cycle at the end of the year, while Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and Fortnite are all losing four sets. One generic video game kit will also be removed from LEGO’s rotation at the end of 2026, with the Arcade Machine set being discontinued.

While LEGO’s product rotation will affect a wide array of video game sets, the changes do not seem to affect any of its more premium gaming sets. The LEGO video game sets affected by the change are largely lower-cost sets aimed at children, including a plethora of smaller kits based on individual scenes. The rotation will affect a number of minifigures included in the sets, with fans likely needing to act fast to pick up sets with minifigures of characters like Horizon‘s Aloy and Animal Crossing‘s Blathers. The affected LEGO sets are expected to be officially discontinued on December 31.
Product rotation is nothing new for LEGO, with the toy brand often cycling out older sets to make way for new releases. LEGO rotated out 20 different video game-themed sets at the end of July 2026, including popular premium sets like The Legend of Zelda‘s Great Deku Tree set and the Pac-Man Arcade Machine set. LEGO also discontinued several of its Mario Kart kits with the July rotation, affecting multiple popular characters like Wario, Yoshi, and Piranha Plant.
Even with an array of sets being cycled out, LEGO looks to have plenty of collaborations on the way. The toy brand has already confirmed multiple brand-new collaborations coming throughout the rest of 2026 and into 2027, including beloved properties like Yu-Gi-Oh and Dragon Ball Z making their LEGO debut. LEGO is also gearing up to release another premium video game console set in October with the LEGO PlayStation, scheduled to release for LEGO Insiders Early Access on October 1 and for all retailers on October 4. LEGO fans can look forward to a multitude of exciting new sets coming from the toy brand in the near future.
