LEGO has officially revealed two more Star Wars sets based on Yoda and Darth Vader, confirming several earlier rumors and leaks dating back to 2025. Scheduled to arrive in spring 2026, the newly announced products have elicited a mixed response from LEGO collectors due to some polarizing design choices.

Originally launched in the late 1990s, Star Wars is the oldest LEGO theme based on a licensed property that is still officially active as of today. LEGO’s Q1 2026 reveals included dozens of Star Wars set announcements, the most recent of which are brick-built busts of Yoda and Darth Vader.

One of LEGO’s select few Pokemon minifigures that are yet to be officially announced surfaces online in the form of a leaked photo.

Some Fans Think LEGO’s New Yoda Bust Is a Bust

The newly confirmed sets have been met with a mixed response from LEGO collectors. The Yoda kit, identified by set number 75438, appears to be the more controversial of the two, largely due to his googly eyes. Fans chiming in on the reveal via Reddit have called the new Yoda model as everything from “beyond sad” to “definitely a bust,” among other unenviable descriptors. One collector posited that the unexpected eye design makes Yoda look more like a Gremlin.

Bust design aside, some fans are also disappointed by the nameplates accompanying the brick-built sculptures. Both models come with tiny plates featuring the logo(s) of the LEGO Star Wars theme above a largely black area that simply states their names. This leaves most of the nameplate empty, which a vocal section of online fans characterized as making the entire panel look like an afterthought rather than the front part of a display-focused set. Although these aren’t the first 2026 LEGO Star Wars sets to have received criticism from fandom, they may be the first whose initial reveals have received largely negative reactions from the most vocal collectors.

The busts themselves are priced at $39.99 for the Yoda model and $49.99 for its Darth Vader counterpart. While those figures may suggest otherwise, the Darth Vader bust is a smaller build, with 349 pieces as opposed to Yoda’s 399. Both of the new LEGO Star Wars sets are scheduled to launch on April 26. Both also ship with minifigures, which some fans have identified as the primary reason to get either of the upcoming sets. Darth Vader has received over 30 minifig renditions over the years, while Yoda has about half as many models. While none of those figures are too expensive to buy on the second-hand market, most are no longer in production, making the upcoming busts a limited-time opportunity to procure some brand-new ones.

While online reactions to the new Star Wars busts by LEGO are mixed at best, that is not necessarily an indication of what their early commercial performance may look like. The most common criticism stemming from the reveal, which centers on Yoda’s eyes, is reminiscent of another similar scenario from late 2025, when LEGO unveiled a Love Birds set from its Ideas theme. While the resulting online discussions saw some collectors describe the eyes of those bird replicas as underwhelming, the set released on January 1 to what appears to be decent success, as most distributors and LEGO’s own website currently only offer it on backorder.

In addition to the newly confirmed busts, April 26 will also see LEGO release several more Star Wars sets. The upcoming batch includes 75447 The Razor Crest ($149.99), 75445 Anzellan Starship ($69.99), and 75444 AT-RT Attack ($44.99). A five-pack from the BrickHeadz theme called The Mandalorian and Grogu: Allies & Villains is also due to hit the store shelves on the same date, priced at $39.99.
