LEGO has finally unveiled the long-rumored Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set, and it’s going to be an expensive addition to one’s growing collection. The Lord of the Rings and LEGO have continued to collaborate through the years, but this set is the biggest one that the partnership has brought to life.

There have been rumors about a LEGO Minas Tirith set for months now, and while leaks emerged as early as last year, LEGO’s confirmation has now made the set a reality. Anticipation has been growing for LEGO to make an announcement, and it turns out that the wait for this Minas Tirith build won’t be much longer. However, Lord of the Rings fans who are eager to add another Tolkien-inspired set to their collection may want to carefully budget first.

My Most Anticipated LEGO Set Should Be Revealed Soon, And I Can’t Wait

LEGO has already released some great sets this year, but one of my most anticipated is likely releasing this summer.

LEGO’s Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith Set Is Going to Cost a Pretty Penny

The newly announced LEGO Minas Tirith kit is priced at $650, making it one of the most expensive sets of the year. This set will be available to purchase starting June 4, so its launch is just right around the corner. With 8,278 pieces, this upcoming Lord of the Rings set may not be the biggest LEGO set ever, but it’s definitely near the top of the list.

Minas Tirith itself isn’t the only thing featured in the set, either. There are also minifigures of some of the best Lord of the Rings characters. Sets that are this large usually include extra minifgures to help bring the final build to life, and die-hard Lord of the Rings fans are going to quickly recognize some familiar faces.

Minifigures Included in LEGO’s Minas Tirith Set

  • Aragorn
  • Arwen
  • Gandalf the White
  • Shadowfax
  • Pippin
  • Faramir
  • Denethor
  • Four Gondor soldiers

Aragorn as king, Arwen carrying the banner of Gondor, and Denethor holding some cherry tomatoes feature callbacks to some of the best moments from The Return of the King. A Minas Tirith set is something that many Lord of the Rings fans have been wanting for a long time. There have even been some great fan-made Minas Tirith LEGO builds to help satisfy the craving. Minas Tirith serves as one of the most pivotal set pieces in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and franchise lovers will finally get to see it remade via LEGO bricks.

Signing up for a LEGO Insider membership will give collectors early access to the Minas Tirith set on June 1. That isn’t all, though. LEGO Insider members will also get a free additional gift: Grond, the wolf-headed battering ram that was used during the battle for Minas Tirith.
