PlayStation’s Astro Bot is officially returning in LEGO form, as the company has unveiled a new set based on the 2024 Game of the Year winner. The LEGO Astro Bot set is due for release on October 1 for LEGO Insiders and October 4 for everyone else. This set is available exclusively as a free gift with purchase of the LEGO PlayStation set releasing the same day.
Astro Bot has quickly become PlayStation’s new mascot character after the success of games like the VR title Astro Bot Rescue Mission and the 3D platformer Astro Bot. The lovable little robot was even featured in the PlayStation 5’s pack-in game Astro’s Playroom, which served to showcase the features of the PS5 and DualSense controller. Now, Astro Bot is accompanying the PlayStation once again with its first foray into the LEGO realm.

Although the LEGO Astro Bot set was leaked back in July of this year, no images of the set were shared. Now that the set has officially been confirmed, fans are getting their first look at how PlayStation’s latest mascot has been rendered in LEGO. Astro Bot will be fully posable in this LEGO set, and builders will be able to completely rotate the robot’s head and arms, as well as swap out eyes for different expressions. The set also comes with a stand and plaque that includes the Astro Bot logo.

The LEGO figure stands over 8 inches high, 4.5 inches wide, and 2.5 inches deep, with the stand included. However, a core part of Astro Bot’s character, which is the different PlayStation-themed outfits players can unlock in Astro Bot, is not represented in this LEGO set. Still, the accuracy and posability of this LEGO Astro Bot set make for an impressive build on its own, and even more so considering it’s a free gift with purchase.
To get this LEGO Astro Bot, fans will have to pick up the new LEGO PlayStation set, which retails for $179. This might be a somewhat hefty price, but it isn’t too bad given LEGO’s track record of premium price tags and the fact that it includes a bonus Astro Bot freebie. The LEGO PlayStation set depicts the original PS1 console and even includes hidden Easter eggs for iconic PlayStation franchises like Ape Escape and Gran Turismo, which were a key part of this OG console’s success.
While enthusiasm for PlayStation may be at a historic low following the company’s decision to end physical disc production in 2028, fans can still celebrate the impact the company has had on gaming history with these new LEGO sets. Without a firm release window for the PS6, the future of PlayStation is still up in the air. However, the popularity of Astro Bot means it’s likely that the little robot will play a major role in the company’s plans for its next flagship console.
