A new report indicates that Don’t Nod, the developer that created Life is Strange, may soon run out of funding if matters don’t improve. Unfortunately, the Life is Strange studio is just one of many game developers that has been struggling in recent times, with many others facing cuts or complete closure.

Don’t Nod is Facing a Difficult Situation

According to a disclosure discovered in a financial report, brought to attention by Gautoz, Don’t Nod is in danger of running out of funding entirely by November 2026. If that were to happen, Don’t Nod could very likely face closure. As of April, Don’t Nod had about $10 million in cash, and its main shareholder Tencent, which has a 42% stake in Don’t Nod, isn’t interested in increasing its financial stake in Don’t Nod or funding its next game. As a result, the Board of Directors will be holding a meeting on June 17 to try and find solutions, as the company has been unsuccessful in finding other publishers thus far. Don’t Nod’s next game, Project P14, could end up being released earlier than expected, but on a smaller scale than originally intended, as a result.
