Wizards of the Coast has officially revealed several cards coming to Magic: The Gathering as part of the game’s upcoming crossover with the Star Trek franchise. The ambitious Magic collaboration will cover iconic moments and characters from throughout Star Trek‘s 60-year-long history.

The beloved card game from Wizards of the Coast has welcomed a wealth of new crossovers throughout 2026. The first Universes Beyond set of the year brought an entirely new IP to the game with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, featuring nods to both the classic animated series and comic books, as well as modern iterations of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. Magic followed up the TMNT set with returns to a pair of popular crossovers, launching a Marvel Super Heroes expansion in June and returning to Middle-earth with the release of The Hobbit. Now, Wizards of the Coast is set to conclude the year with a major Star Trek crossover.

Magic: The Gathering Shows New Star Trek Cards

The official debut stream for Magic: The Gathering‘s Star Trek expansion showed off a wealth of new cards from the set. Each Star Trek series is represented across the main set and the Commander decks, featuring major captains and iconic supporting cast members, including Mr. Spock, Seven of Nine, and more. Many of the new Saga cards in Star Trek reference specific fan-favorite episodes from the franchise, such as In the Pale Moonlight and The City on the Edge of Forever. Wizards of the Coast also revealed several special Star Trek-inspired Showcase treatments within the set, particularly highlighting the “Classic Enterprise” cards based on Star Trek movie posters and LCARS cards inspired by the Enterprise’s onboard computer.

Magic‘s Star Trek expansion will release with four new Commander Decks alongside the set. Each deck will highlight a different series or species from the Star Trek universe, including Landing Party, helmed by Mr. Spock as the commander, and Federation Fleet, led by Captain Picard. Two of the franchise’s most iconic alien races will star as the other pair of Star Trek Commander Decks launching with the set, showcasing We Are The Borg as a Borg-based deck featuring the Borg Queen and Klingon Fury as an aggressive deck led by Worf. Magic‘s Star Trek expansion will officially release on November 13.

The card game is introducing a wide variety of Star Trek-themed game mechanics with the set’s release. Multiple cards in the set feature the new “Strange New Worlds” ability, which rewards players for having a variety of lands with different names. Magic: The Gathering added the new Beam Me Up mechanic as a unique way to recur cards from the graveyard, allowing players to cast spells from their graveyard by returning creatures they control to the hand. Wizards of the Coast also made heavy use of Spacecraft artifact cards in Star Trek after the card type was first introduced in the sci-fi Edge of Eternities set.

Magic: The Gathering‘s Star Trek set will close out a successful year for the trading card game. Alongside the previously mentioned Universes Beyond sets, Magic introduced three new in-universe sets throughout 2026, bringing fans back to multiple fan-favorite planes with Lorwyn Eclipsed and Secrets of Strixhaven. Magic‘s final in-universe set of the year even introduced an entire alternate universe, with Reality Fracture centering on the Echoverse created by popular planeswalker Jace. Magic looks to finish strong with its upcoming Star Trek crossover, with plenty of exciting new releases on the way in 2027.
